Ponca City had a loud and hilarious
time Tuesday. The laying of the corner
stone of the new A. T. A S. F. depot was
the cause of the festivities.
Our streets have been flooded with
strangers the present week and the gen-
eral expression is that Perry is head and
shoulders above any other city in the
Territory.
The recent rain has had a beneficial
effect on business of all kinds, even the
average street loafer bears a more pleas
ant expression on hit; face as the result
of Wednesday's rain.
Two young men on last Friday stole
an overcoat from a camp yard and pawn-
ed it for Mfty cents. Chief Taylor cap-
tured them and they ,\iil now work ton
days for the city as a result.
Attention is railed to the new ad this
week of W. M. Morris & Co., painters and
dealers in wall paper, p tints, etc. You
can g -t any thing you desire in this line
at reasonable prices aud they will do the
work for you too. Sh© them.
Deputy Marshall 8 8. Nix and Obe
Jones Tuesday brought in Hen Cravens,
charged with larceny, and H. Delino,
charged with telling whiskey in the Kaw
reservation. They were takon before
Judge li.«rsr and given thirty days
each.
It is rumored that a new enterprise in
the shape of a P pulist newspaper will
make its appearance in this city some
time next month with Mr. Mieir as edi
tor-in-chief, which leads one to ask.

J. L. Adams cleared $150.'X) during
the mouth t f March by snding a new in-
vention obtained through K. M. Hughes
and K. .1. Waitemier. The invention is
a perfect su>• and its principal use is
to prevent breechy stock from getting

Wm Briggs, a tailor at Mulhall, left
his home on April the Oth in search of
work since which time no trace of him
can be f und. His wife, Mrs. August*

This has been, and will continue to be
all week, a busy time in Perry. Dis-
trict <•< ;rt i^ in session, two land con-
testa on at the land oftice and the Terri
t rial commandariesof the G. A. K and
W. K (' in session, outside of the regu
lar rout'ne business, is the cause of the
great number of people present.
Geo. H. Stockeye, who settled on a
tine claim on the Black Bear recently,
sold the same to a gentleman from Kan-
sas, by the name of Barnard, w ho paid
the neat little sum of $9ix> f.>r the same.
Mr. Stockeye left Wednesday for Den
ver where he will in future reside.
It's funny, but it's a fact, that the la
dies of Perry purchase their wall paper
of Howendobler after visiting all other
places. It's because his new designs are
the most attractive and so charming to

Jacob Wier died at 11is residence in
this city on west D street Friday night
of heart disease, aged 01 years. Thefuner
al services were held at the M. K. church

ing, and the remains were iutered in the
city cemetry, the (J. A. li. having charge.
Mr. Wier was a good husband, father
and citizen aud his death is regretted by
all.
Wm. Gould, who lives seven miles
northwest of the city in Lowe township,
met with a serious accident last Tues-
day. He was walling a well and a bucket
containinf rock, which was being lower
ed into the well, gave way and the rock
fell, striking him on the head and crush
ing the skull. He is very badly injured
and the chances of his recovery are very
doubtful.
The sad news reached us hist Friday
of the death of Mrs Shepard, six miles
southwest of the city. Mrs Shepard con-
tracted the small pox while nursing
another and nou suffers death as the re
suit of her kindness. No other members
of the family are sick as . et, and it is to
oe hoped that the dreaded deseasc wili j
not fasten upon them. Mr. Shepard hat-

Richard M. White, familiarly known I
as Dick, on Tuesday of this week re
oeived certificate No. 1.'}, being patent
issued him for the town of White Itock ;
in Noble county, containing 40 acres in
Sec. .'J, Twp. 23, U. ii west, with exception
of the blocks reserved for school and j
park purposes. Mr. White will at once
commence to issue deeds and claims he
has the liest town in the Territory. It •
has been one year lacking one day since
Mr. White made his relinquishment f<>r
towu.-ute purposes. Not very fast work,
but Dick feels happy all the same.
Died.
Mrs. M. E. Boles, Hint her of John
Boles, late circulator for the Daily Dem-
ocrat, died at her home in South Perry
on the—I d inst of pneumonia, aged oo
years. She leaves a husband and seven
children, five of whom are residents of
this city, to mourn the loss of an aflfec
tionate wife and a Kind and loving
mother.
The funeral services were conducted
by Ensign Williams at the Salvation
Army hall Wednesday, after which the

tion of the order today and it is expect-
ed that all members of the Grand Lodge
will bo present besides visiting bodies
from all parts of the Territory. When
it comes to entertaining large Codies
of people Perry is in the lead of the Ter-
ritorial cities
Perry for the first time in her history
is without a daily paper, the Times
having suspended its daily Saturday-
evening and the Democrat Sunday
morning Daily pacers are a luxury
that our business mm have sustained
during the past at an expense they
could afford and the publications have
at last decided to confine their efforts to
the building up of good weekly papers.
However the Democrat will issue a semi-
weekly edition and we wish both papers
success. In the meantime the Entf.k
prisk will continue to make its regular
weekly visits to its readers andour efforts
shall be to make it the lH>et and most
newsy pap^rhi Noble county.

Heretofore there has been some fault
found with the grand juries in this
county on account of their political com-
plexion so the Enterprise scribe inter-
viewed the members of that body nnd
found that there were six Republicans,
six Democrats, three Populists and one
doubtful. On the silver question they
come nearer getting together as we
found thirteen for free silver nnd three
doubtful.
They are an intehgent looking body of
men and the reporter was impressed
with the opinion that they w- uld do full
and complete justice to all mutters sub
mitted to them.
For the next ten days I will give spec
