MY NEW YEAR WISH
By A. L. Beckett
]\JA Y Friends who love you love you still .
Through coming years.
May every disappointment, every ill
And all the fears
Of days gone by, be gone, as are those days.
May all your dreams of happiness come true.
May all good things you've hoped, for come to you.
May Peace, Prosperity and Joy attend, your ways.
And if Good Fortune only wills it so
That in the journey through the future we may go
Sometimes together for a little way
Along Life's road—
That I may share with you whate'er that day
May have in store for you;
Help bear the load
If you a burden bear; or if, perchance
The path may lead., by happy circumstance,
Mid blooming flowers
Where songbirds call their messages of love
From leafy bowers
To waiting, listening ears,
Where soft, caressing breezes kiss away your tears,
Where happy hours to happy days are lengthened—
They to happy years
In which your flagging Hope and Faith are strengthened,
And doubts are banished; if midst it all
You find an added pleasure to recall
From your Memory some hours we have spent
Which were happier for you
Because I shared them too,
Then, Dear Friend of Mine—I'll ever be content.
