have full swing. Some time ago
a mile of sandy country road south

this and it was raised by public
subscription. The oil had 'o be

that he executed a promissory note

of the oil. The road wa
May and is yet in almost
condition as il was when
It is well rounded up, with good
drainage and the oil has made it
solid, something like asphalt pave
tneni. The road is the talk of the
farmers. They will go a mile or
two out of their way just lo use it
in driving to Sedan. -Kansas City
Star.
Why don't the townships having
sandy roads to contend with look
up this oil proposition? Kveti if
the cost were several times fifty
dollars a mile, it would be a per-
manent improvement, and would
pay for itself in a short lime.

The Democrat has repeatedly
warned the people against biting
al the other fellows game in ref-
erence to these crude oil burner
contracts, and it is likely that this
case is only one of a long line of
similar cases that will be threshed
through the courts of this and othr
counties of the state.
There is said to be several of
these firms making and selling these
burner contracts, and it is stated
that they are all operating under
one patent.
