Christmas Tree.
On Christmas day at the home of
die teachers the Suirlay school class-
es of Miss Lillian Bishop and Mr-
Margaret Forward gave a Christ mas
tree for the children in the families
that the Broadway Methodist church
had chosen to supply with Christmas
cheer.
Ten children were present and re-
ceived an abundance cf the good
things that go towards making Christ-
mas a memorable festival.
For Miss Smith.
On Christmas evening Mrs. Frank
Gates entertained a few friends in
honor of her niece Miss Romania
Smith of Oklahoma City.
A big Christmas tree li;;'ited with
candies and gay with tinsl. was the
center of attraction during the even-
ing. Mr. Gales took the part of old San-
ta Glaus in distributing th 1 gilts and
It was discovered that each giest
had three gifts on the tree ore of
which was a musical iiis;rimont.
After the tree had been stripped
of its gifts the orchestra aracticed.

On Wednesday afternoon fron 11:-

German dinner given at the Penning-
ton building by the ladies of the Jew-
ish Aid Society for the benefit of the
Temple fund.
The menu Is a very appetizing one
and tho ladies will appreciafj the
liberal patronage of the public.

On Friday evening at the home
of Mrs. II. H. Sayre Miss Francis Gor-
man Messrs. Cassius Byrne Charles
Anderson Lorenzo Love "William
Stewart Crockett and Bob Sayre gave
an unusually pretty and pleasant
dance honoring Miss Romania Smith
of Oklahoma City who is the guest of
her aunt Mrs. Frank Gates.
The Sayre home was attractively
set in holiday decorations of 'nist'e-
toe holly poinsettias and Christmas
bells. The dainty programs with ihe
names of the hostess and host on
the back listed sixteen dances with
extras.
Refreshments of cream and ca'ie
were served.

Christmas Charity.
Mrs. Curtis says that she has nev-
er known Ardmore to be so univer-
sally interested in charity as the city
lias been this Christmas.
The Broadway Methodist Church
through their pastor Rev. Gray ask-
ed for the names of twenty-four fam-
ilies whom they wished to supply
with Christinas cheer.
The children in thes families num-
bered sixty. The families were pro-
vided with fix d fuel and gifts for
Christmas. These children were re-
membered at. the Methodist Christ-
mas trie us well as at the tree at
the Pennington building.
Rev. Keicher was warmly interest-
ed in the work and was of the greal-
est assistance to .mis. turns in Bel-
ting donations and in making all ar-
rangements for the tree.
At the tree he ltd the devotional
exereisi.s and assisted with the g.fts.
There were two hundred children
present who wen; given each a bag
of oranges apples and nuts and can-
dy. Knob child received a good
pair of hose. They were the 2o-cetit
value which Westheimer & Daube let
Mrs. Curtis have for less than half
price.

and each boy a knife or some toy suit
able to their age.

Through the thoughtfulness or Mrs.
Julius Kahn who solicited the Th"-
atorium the Thaiinbouser and The
Royal Tor tickets two hundred tick-
ets were distributed for use on Christ-
mas Day.
The children gathered at the court
house and Mrs. Attaway Mrs. Kahn
and Mrs. Curtis carried them in
groups to the shows. Those who did
not have wraps or caps were supplied
with them.
Tho majority of the children had
never seen a picture show before.
The wholesale houses of the Pur-
cell Grocery company the Dawson
Bros. and Tyler and Simpson assist-
ed in donations of apples and or-
aiig' s.
Miss Daisy Nichols and her class
of l'hilatheas warm generous -;irls
gave a Christmas tree and supplied
thirty poor children with us ful and
pretty gifts.
Miss Nichols and Mrs. Curtis also
took these children to the picture
shows.
A great many ladies assist' d Mrs
Curtis by asking for the name of a
family whom they supplied with a
Christmas dinner.
The third ward led In this work.
The third ward school math' a hand
some donation and Miss Noble's grade
in this ward made a donation of an
abundance of clothes which were rap-
