Association has failed to make good
in backing airs. Mary C. Carpenter,
the woman who slayed Thos. W. Merri-
field, while the latter was alleged to
have been stealing the company's
property is now believed to be true
since they have refused to furnish
bond for the woman's release.
E J. Giddings, the woman's attor-
ney, stated this morning that they ex-
pect a farmer to sign her bond for
$2500 this afternoon and secure her
release from jail.
