The settlement of the Cherokee
stlip adds 100,000 people to tile po|
ulation of Oklahoma Territory. It
Hives 275,000 people within our tcr
ritorial boundaries and will bring our
taxable property to over 50,000,000
of dollars. Combine the Indian
Territory with Oklahoma in a single
state, and the population would ex-
ceed half a million, and the taxable
wealth would be at least 100,000,000
dollars.
The conditions which exist in both
territories are intolerable. The es-
sential principles of Home Rule are
disregarded.

During the slight rainfall at Perry
Thursday night, Oscar W. Bucking-
ham of Portsmouth, Ohio, crawled
uudcr a freight car and fell asleep.
At daylight the car, while being
switched, ran over Buckingham and
cut off one of his legs and badly lac-
erated the other. The railroad com-
pany had him taken to their -.hospital
at Arkansas City.
Rev. Fullbrlght was in from Potta-
watomie county yesterday, and reports
every tiling very prosperous in that
county. The cotton crop in ids
vicinity will be an excellent one, and
corn, grain and vegetables ail that
could be wished for. A cotton gin
litis been built near ills place, and Is
being kept busy taking care of the
cotton.
The executive committee has de-
cided not to extend the world's fair
beyond the time provided for Its clos-
ing by congress. There was a unani-
mous feeling against a proposition to
send a representative to Washington
to ask congress to extend the time.
It was practically agreed the gates
should clone at 12 o'clock on the night
of October 30. So if you wish to at-
tend the exposition you will have to
get a move on yourself during Octo-
ber. The crowds that attend during
that mouth will be something enor-
mous.
