An Interesting contest (or a name
fof Mr. Boudlnard'a new bakery came
to a elope Saturday night and the
name selected was "Eureka," which
means "I have found the best." This
name was suggested by three different
persons, S. C. Bunstine, Mrs. Eliza-
beth Hiines and Mrs. Bettie Neel.
Each is entitled to $1 worth of bread
or a cake worth $1. There were 109
different names suggeited, by 150 dif-
ferent people. Mr. Boudinard was
well please with the interest the peo-
ple took in the matter of selecting a
name for his bakery and desires to
thank the people for this interest.
This contest also has another side
to it, the value of advertising. Mr-
Boudinard advertised that he would
give $1 worth of bread or a cake val-
ued at $1 to the person suggesting the
most sutiable name for his bakery.
This advertisement was responded to
by 150 different people, showing that
people read advertisements. If they
do not respond it is not the fault of
the newspaper, but of the advertise-
ment.

Labor Commissioner Stops Workmen
The state labor commissioner came
to Edmond Wednesday morning and
ordered the men working on the wa-
ter works and electric light plant to
cease working ten hours per day.
It is contrary to the state law for
any person to work more than eight
hours per day on public work, there-
fore the objection. The men were paid
11.50 per day for ten hours, or fifteen
cents per hour. When forced to work
but eight hours, most of the men quit
rather than work for $1.20 per day.
