SAVH HE'LL COMPEL HIM TO RE-
LEASE OSAGE LAND
Oklahoma Governor Says Hearst Is
Altogether Too Small Game
For Him—President's
A boot His Size
Kansas City Oct. 14. Governor C. N.
•laskell of Oklahoma was just about
as busy as he could be yesterday—so
tiugy that it was necessary for >.im to
have his meals sent to his room at the
Coates house. The governor arrived
early yesterday morning and immedi-
ately after securing a room, sent out
tracers for four or five men he wanted
to assist him in his fight on President.
Roosevelt. Three of the men allowed
up during the forenoon and at 2
o'clock in the afternoon the governor
was expecting a visit from the ot> er
two.
Prom these men he took depositions
which he says will have some beari'ig
on the charge which he has m^de
against the president with reference
to the Osage Indian oil lands. He
may remain here over night ami he
inay decide to go on to Chicago today.
"I am not going to pay any more at-
tention to Hearst." Mr. Haskell said,
^consider Hearst beneatli my notice.
Misrepresents nothing, politically,
morally or otherwise. President rtoose
velt i6 the only one who is mr.tched
to scrap with me, and I am going to
devote my time to him. The charge
which I have preferred against him
concerning the Osage Indian 01! land
leases has put him up against it and
1 expect to compel him to cant el the
lease on 080,000 acres of Osage land.
"Secretarj Hitchcock came Cuough
that outrageous business compara-
tively clean. President Roosevelt knew
fwhat the situation was. He knew that
the Standard Oil company was sub-
letting the leases and he knew that the
compensation was outrageously Inade-
quate compared with what adjoining
land, owners were getting for their
leases.
"I ain amply supplied with proof o'
the duplicity of the nation's chief 'X-
ecutive and 1 am going through with
it. As governor of the state of Okla-
homa I am protector of the Usages,
and I propose to see that they a e not
imposed upon. As for Hearst. . treat
him the same as I would a dog. If 1
should meet him in the street i would
turn him over to the police."

Creek Nation Council May I'ush Town
Lot Suits
Muskogee, Okla. Oct. 14.—The elec-
tion of Ellis Childers president of the
House of Kings in the Creek council
promises to stir up things before the
season is over. A strong effort is to
be made in the council at this session
to force the Creek national attorney
M. I,. Mott to either dismiss the town
lot suits he has brought against four
million dollars worth of property in
.Muskogee, Okmulgee. Wagoner and
Tulsa, or else try them at once. Child
ers is friendly to many persons who
are interested ill this property and is
a progressive Indian.
It is generally understood that Mott
himself wrote the message which Chief
I Tiger delivered at the, Creek council,
j In tile message special attention is
I called to the :fact that the national
board of home missions lor the Pres-
byterian church was forced to pay
$10,0011 to get a settlement and with-
drawal of suits on land owned by the
board. To hold up a church on its
school lands in tbis way has awakened
a bitter resentment and an effort is
now making to force the town lot suits
to a trial, something the lot owners
have never been able to do, and the
Creek council seems to favor it.
