Miss Robin Hood In the North Woods
nf 4 .
A man who is elected to public office and takes a solemn
oath before God and man to do his duty as he sees it. : prrt-
the interests of the people and guard the city from danger, is I
a traitor if he fails or refuses to do either of the above things,
and should be ahunned by all de-cent people.
Tolbert says the waterworks and paving contracts were j
jointly let. Jim Kling!e-mith say- they were not. Now. how is I
the suffering public to know? It's one man's word against the
other. Which one are you go;r.g to believe*
o
The city council says that Tolbert was not to get any-
thing for completing the waterworks Tolbert says he was to
get one dollar and other valuable considerations. Now. who
has told the truth?
Although it has been fifty-two days since Chief Keller was
killed, we are certainly glad that the duke finally came to a
satisfactory understanding with Don Tolbert and Ben Green
ar.d made an appointment.
, Ben Green was one of the most prominent figures at the
council meeting last night, and before the councfl met was clos-
eted with the mayor. He was probably telling him where to
head in.
Life is just one darned thing after another. Commission
form of government, paving the streets, and then Shaffer coun-
ty bobs up again.
It takes backbone ar.d cold-blooded nerve to do your duty
sometimes. If you think yo. are right, go on. Why wait for
two tttonths and allow outsiders to say what you shall do?
o
God pity the man who was bom without a backbone and ,
weak enough to be led around by other men.

Did you ever think, in your rush for gold, that a dead
mac's hand a dollar won't hold?
Did you know that the ice was broken last night ar.d the
mayor actually appointed a chief of police?
The good book tells _s that 1: is blessed to dwell in unison.
We are glad to kn^w that our city council is blessed.
Don't get too close to the man with a bottle of wine and
a check-book.
