D* TlIle, 111. Jan 13 —Harry Birch,
a mot on picture camera-man of Chi-
cago. wa* soundly thrashed here to-
day by Ernest Harrington, whose wife
is hunger striking to force her hus-
band into the church. Birch, It is said
went to Harrington's home and at-
tempted to gain admittance, Baying
Harrington had given h.m permis-
rtion. The attendant at the house call-
ed h/s store and asked him about It.
•'No'' he answered, "throw him out."
Birch was then told to leave the
residence.
"We are getting enough notoriety
as it is and don't want fool pictures
of me going all over the world," Har-
1 rington said.
Harrington then took Birch to the
woodshed to wTiip him. He administ-
ered such a beating to Birch that the
later lost consciousness When the
came to Harrington was gone and two
strangers were bending over him
They led him away from the house
and directed him to a doctor.
Birch's nose was broken, both eyes
were closed and h's face was badly
swollen from the impact of Harring
ton's blows. Birch has made no com

ter has not been arrested
