a young farmer who married Rob-
insons daughter Saturday night.
The old man bitterly opposed th
match. Reports of the killing dif-
fer widely some of the witnesses
saying Robinson followed McKee In-
to the drug store and attacked him
with a knife while others insist that
the knife was in the ola man's pock-
et when lie fell.
McKee surrendered to the1 author-
ities and was brought here and
placed in the county jail at noon
today.

The attack was unexpected and

of a jury's hands and causing a ver
diet of not guilty to he rendered.
Busenbark has retained attorneys
and this evening asserted that h

A THRILLING MOMENT
THE MAYFLOWER WITH PRESI-
DENTIAL PARTY HAS NARROW
ESCAPE FROM COLLISION.
Old Point Va. June . The Pres-
ident's yacht Mayflower with the
president aud Mrs. Taft and dis-
tinguished guests aboard narrowly
escaped a collision early today with
the steamer Northland of the Nor-
folk and Washington line not far
from Point lookout where the Po-
tomac river empties Into Chesapeake
Hay.
Only the vigilance of the officers
of the Mayflower and the Northland
and the prompt action prevented
what looked for a minute like an
accident.
As dt happened the Northland
narrowly missed the Mayflower. Of-
ficials and one or two passengers
on the passenger boat were given
I onlv a momentary shock. It was
.moonlight and the lights from i.
passing vessels could be seen fr
miles. The few passengers awake
showed no signs of panic but the:
looked relieved when danger was
over.

Causes Long Wrangle.

in the J.ick lUvis murder trial today
centered about n Woodmen of the
World emblem on the coat of Jesse
Maxwell the Blain man. Tho defense
claimed there was no such emblem
on the coat when It was used In evi-
dence at the first trial and that It
had been placed '' there since. Tho
state's attorneys agreed to use the
coat without the emblem If the de-
fendant would take off a duplicate
problem be wears. The dead man and
the accused lielonged to the same
lodge.
The court liag not decided whether
the coat Bhall be admitted as evi-

Urging Good Roads.
Atoka today Is witnessing the as

the state and from northern Texas

that Ardmore would be well rep-
resented at this meeting but no one
took up the matter of rates with the
railway companies so the few wh
went did so of their own volition.
Col. Suggs who spent Sunday in
this city with his family stated that
the greatest of Interest was being
manifested by the people all over
the eastern section of the state in
the matter.
The M. K. & T. Railway operated
special trains into Atoka today and
prominent speakers were in attend-

Moore a prominent busines3 man of
this city his wife and children and
two women believed to be Mrs. Van
Gilder and daughter who were visit-
ing the Moores were found murder-
ed in their beds at the Moore noma
today.
The heads of all of the victim
were terribly crushed. An axe cov-
ered with blood and hair was found
in the home.
The crime Is believed to have been
been a madman'a work. There U n.)
definite clew.
Later Identifications show that the
women believed to be the V'anOtl-
ders are Blanche and Edith Spill-
Inger. aged 18 and 50. The children
murdered were Herman Boyd and
Paul aged 11 7 and 6 respectively
and Catharine aged 9.
