Tell your neighbors about that barbecue August 8th.
^ ^
Ross and Morrow in legislature will mean much
to Edmond.
* * #
Edmond will be the Mecca of Oklahoma county
democracy August 8th.
^ * *
Will Haywood's acquittal take him out of Roosevelt's
••Undeslreable Citizen" class?
*
All roads will lead to Edmond August 8th and demo-
crats will be here by the thousands.
* * *
Morrow for the legislature from the county at large is
the proper nomination,^He Is a sure winner.
* * *
Let us not loose sight of the fact thai Edmond s fu-
ture Is In our hands. It Is ours to make or mar.
*
Haskell, Gore, and Fulton Is a trio that will certainly
make the'Republicans sit up and take notice August 8th.
* * *
For a state ticket and no constitution seems to be the
battle cry of the Republicans. That's consistency isn't it.
* *
The constitution Is gaining grounds every day
When the ballots are counted their will not be enough votes
against It to talley.
* # *
It might be well for our impetuous Teddy to refrain
from classing a man as undesirable until after a jury
passed upon his guilt or innocence.

A REPUBLICAN JOKE
The biggest joke of the campaign thus far Is the
statement by some republicans that enough democrats
would bolt Haskell to insure Frantz' election. Now this is
reallv ludicrous for several reasons. In the first place our
republican friends claim they are in a majority, yet in this
statement they admit that they will have to have many
democrat bolters votes to elect thslr man. In the second
place they concede the election of the entire state ticket
by the democrats with the exception of the governor, thus
showing that they are willing to sacrifice every other
candidate to save their rough rider, carpet bag, ex-demo-
crat governor. The third reason why we call this a joke is
because the republicans claim the democratic party is
spiit, Is full cf factions and that during the primary election
It was claimed the democrats were fighting each other and
could not get together. Why bless your poor misguided
souls, the recent democratic primaries were mere pleasant
diversions compared to what the republicans may expect if
they don t stop their miserable lying about the constitution
When the democrats get ready to go Into a fight the late
primary will be only a sparring match compared with the
finish fight that we will put up. The facts are, the demo-
crats are united and all the misrepresentations of the op-
position cannot prevent the overwhelming victory which
will greet "Haskell and the Constitution."

VICTORY FOR AMERICANISM
The acquittal of Wm. D. Haywood, charged with con
spiricy in the rruider of former Governor Steunenberg, of
Idaho, is a victory for Irue Americanism over '.hat form of
despotism which finds best expression in the mine operators
of the East and West who seek to crush organized labor
and for ever el mlnate any desire for a bettered condition
in the breast of those who delve in the earth to bring forth
its hidden treasures It Is a victory for organized labor over
organized greed; of truth over falsehood; of right over
wrong; of law over lawlessness. It Is a vlctoiy of the plain
citizen over the unscrupulous, slimy Pinkerton detective
agency.
Organized labor and all Its sympathizers rejoice at
the verdict of twelve good trun who would not do violence
to their conscience by yielding to the clamor of those who
sought the life of an innocent man because cf his official
position with a union. The arrest of Haywood and con-
duct of the case up to the trial was a travesty on justice
and a shame on the officers who perpetrated it. The
effect of this will be far reaching. It now remains to be
seen how socn the Idaho officers will meet out justice to
Harry Orchard the self confessed murderer of Governor
Steunenberg "and the one whose ^ testimony was used to
convict Haywood of complicincy in the murder.

THE RALLY AND BARBECUE
The democrats of this city and vicinity are preparing
for a big gathering in this city August 8th at which time.
C. N. Haskell, T. P. Gore, and E. L. Fulton will address
the people on the issues of the campaign. This is expect-
ed to be the biggest political gathering ever held in the
county as preparations are almost complete for a big bar-
becue and picnic.
In opening the county campaign in this city we
have an opportunity to strike one of the most effective
blows for democracy In the enti'e campaign. To make
the barbecue, an unquallifled success it will be necessary
for every loyal democrat to lend every assistance possible
to the committees having in charge the arrangements. It
will require many willing workers to successfully handle
the rally and barbecue in detail and all those who desire a
part In this should see Chas. Burks and be assigned to
some duty.

Edmond citizens will have an opportunity to meet and
hear C. N. Haskell on Thursday August 8th. This will
be the first time the first governor of the New State has
been in our fair little city and he will be accorded a royal
welcome.

The Mangum Star, supposed to be democratic, refus-
ed to carry some of the democratic candidates names at
the head of its columns, and quotes freely from the State
Capital for its authority. With Frank Greer's editorials as
its inspiration we do not wonder that the Star's pencil
pusher seems locoed.
"Are You A Grouch?"
Almost every game of base ballj?
played here with a visiting team has \
been a small financial loss of a few
dollars to Manager Smith. This
should not be, and would not be were
everyone who witnessed a game
obliged to put up his two bits. " We
regret Edmond has a few people who
are evidently so small that they would
rather walk a half mile around and
sneak in like a Kansas booze fighter
after a drink than to walk down Broad
way and pay 25 cents to the man at
the end of the street. Manager Smith
pays a rental for the ball ground and
one of these days some of our good
citizens will be subject to humiliation
when a collector comes around and
asks for a sight of their admission
ticket and being unable to produce the
necessary small card board will be given
a well deserved calling down and either
be required to pay up or leave the
ground under the penalty of a trespass-
er. Anyone who is so cheap that he
will not pay to see so good an article
of base ball as we have haa put up is
too cheap to pnjoy a good game when
he soes It. Put up the little fee of
25 cents and help advertise Edmond
