of the county of Choctaw, State of
Oklahoma, made on the 3rd day of
April; 1911, the undersigned guar-
dian of the estate of Tenna Jackson,
a minor, will sell at public sale to
the highest bidder, subject to confir-

Sealed proposals will be received
and considered by the board of coun
ty commissioners of Choctaw county.

tion of a new County Court House
and County Jail buildings.
Proposals will be received up to
12 o'clock, noen of July 3rd, 1911, at
the office of said Board of County
Commissioners, sitting in regular
session for that purpose at Hugo,
Oklahoma.
All proposals shall be delivered to
the architect and his receipt obtain-
ed on or before the date and time
above mentioned.
Plans and Specifications may be
seen either at the office of board of
county commissioners at Hugo, or
the office of C. E. Hair & Co., 208
Levy building, Oklahoma City, Okla-
homa.
The Architects will ,upon request,
accompanied by certified check for
fifty (50) dollars, send those desir-
ing same, extra sets of plans and
specifications and this amount will
be refunded providing plans and
specifications are returned complete
in good shape on or before the date
of letting.
Proposals will be considered sep-
arate from the general contract for
the heating of the court house and
jail buidlngs, and for the plumbing of
the court house, only; it being under-
stood that ten (10) days after above
letting the board will consider prop-
ositions for the plumbing of the jail
building.
Jail plans and specifications can
obtained by depositing twenty
five (25) dollars subject to conditions
same as court house plans.
A certified check for five (5) per
cent of the contract price shall ac-
company each bid; this check being
made payable to the chairman of the
board of county commissioners and
shall be an evidence of good faith on
the part of the persons or company
making proposals. Said check shall
be forfeited to the county of Choc-
taw should the successful bidder, af-
ter being awarded the contract, re-
fuse to enter into written contract,
and within twenty (20) days give sat-
isfactory bond.
The contractor shall give a lawful
and satisfactory bond in sum double
the amount of the contract price,
said bond holding the county of
Choctaw free and harmless from any
liens on their buildings or damage
suits which may be brought about
by the process of erecting said build-
ings.
Proposals shall be made on blank
forms furnished by the architect up-
on demand.
The Board of County Commission
ers of Choctaw county reserve the
right to reject any or all bids, to ac-
cept different contractors for different
buildings and to thoroughly investi-
gate the standing of any firms sub-
mitting proposals before making
iaward. The contractor submitting
proposals hereby agrees by the sub-
mltting of their bids, to waive any
formalities connected with this let-
ting.

Become "Muckrakers."
Addressing the graduates of the
State T'niversity preparatory to the
conferring of degrees. President A.
Grant Evans referred to the common
acceptlon of the meaning of the
word "Muckraker," and then drew a
striking picture of the word's truer
definition. Ht characterized as the
real "muckraker" the man who with
head bent over earthward.grovels In
the mire and slime for the little of
value he may find there, unable to
see the divine presence that stands
besides him. Applying the illustra-
tion he said. "Those who have their
vision bent upon the earth spending
their lives in the sordid effort to ac-
cumulate a litle yellow gold are the
true 'muckrakers.' It has been the
aim of your whole college course to
raise you above this and make you
worthy of an immortal crown. I ask
you to accept these doplomas as com-
missions to go forward In higher, no-
bler service."
