The shop hands that were laid off in
the back shops a few days since will go
to work Monday. And it is extremely
probable that several besides the regular
workmen will also be put to work.
Tuesday, September 6, is Oklahoma
Day at the St. Louis World's Fair, and
the day upon which the territory will be
given special official recognition. This
should not be confused with the exercises
to be held 011 September 5, by Oklahoma
City. Any city that wants to can secure
a special flay in which to advertise them-
selves but there is only one day of offi-
cial recognition given the territory and
that is Tuesday, Sept. 6, Oklahoma Day.

Burglars.
Chief Sims nailed a couple of burglars
yesterday afternoon for having taken
some goods from the house of Lolly
Butts. They were turned over to the
I nited States authorities. The lioys
gave their names as Owens and reside
near the city. Their father is a blind
man.

The postal law requires every house in
the mail delivery district to be numbered
in order to have your mail delivered.
The city ordinance also requires every
house inside the corporation limits to be
numbered for the convenience of the
mail carriers and the public.
Don't neglect to have a plain and cor-
rect number placed on your residence
without delay.

gether and pay the #50 each and have

Take Carrier Receipts.
All subscribers are requested not to pay
any subscriptions to any carriers unless
the carrier presents receipt written in
ink. All complaints should be referred
to the office through the boy or by phone.
The office will honor all receipts issued
in ink, but for safety requests that sub-
scribers see that boys tender receipts

night, August 26, the ladies of the Pres-
byterian and Catholic churches will give
a combined social for the benefit of the
Shawnee Concert band. The band will
play as usual on that evening.

tend this band concert without fail.
