If the editor of the Daily "OU
News" lleport J. 11. Waldo would
come to Tulsa ho would lenrn a lot
as to the situation as regards the
refining Industry as it Is today and
more as to the reasons for caution
In regard to stuff ho Is sending out
In his newsy sheet.
In the Issue of May 24 he refers
n the fnct that "one of the large
Jobbers has written the oil division
at Washington setting forth his
present margin. The reply he re-
ceives explodes some of the rumors
we hare heard for the past two
Mr. Waldo should state who the
Jobber is what (he rumors are and
lay the cards on the table because
In the oil gumo there Is nothing like
a piuare deal and open confession
Is good for. the soul. Mr. Waldo
continues by Intimating that the te-
f'.ners are only Interested In hnlr
own branch of the business and oro
not dividing up fairly with the Job-
bers. The fact Is refiners are get-
ting all they ran get which 1b not
niunh as everybody knows w;ho is
familiar with the situation and the
way gasoline is dragging these days.
Mr. Waldo Is making an enviable
reputation for himself and should
advise his readers who stand in a
particularly confidential relation to
him Inasmuch as they nro paying 16
per month for his Inside dopu that
the refiner and marketer can work
together much better now than ever
and should by all means work in
harmony and not look lr trouble.
Following the article referred to
above Mr. Waldo goes on and ays
that the oil administrator Mr. Re-
qua makes the following statement.
It is remarkably fair and reassur-
ing Jnaamueh as his office is deluged
wlth-ipersonal complaints that ought
to bo considered carefully and pray-
erfully before be. tg put In tho mails:
"This la not the first tlmo re-
ports have reached the oil divi-
sion that some of the mid-continent
refiners are under tho im-
pression that they were to be al-
lowed to absorb the entire recent
tank wagon advance regardless of
marketing expenses and connec-
tions. No permission of this sort
could consistently be aaked for.
It la possible that some refiners
do not yot understand what the
oil Industry Is trying to accom-
plish. The Industry Is on trial.
It Is running Itself. Sacrifices
should be borno equally and not
Tlewcd from a selfish standpoint
otherwise the industry will prove
It cannot run Itself anr correc-
tion will apeedlly follow. The oil
division itself Is on record to this
extent that it believes In tho pol-
icy that the industry can run It-
self. It naturally wants to see
this policy succeed. The action of
a few should not indict tho whole
industry but the Industry asked
for the opportunity to run Itself
and It Is now on trial. It should
not expect the government to edu-
cate Its various units. The results
must very quickly speak for themselves."
Tlioro Wan No Kantl at l.nrlrn.
The Itoxana Petroleum company
has set the S 1-4 casing nt L'2tTi f. t
o: the well on the Livingston fun'
;n H-20-2W near Luclen and ts now
drilling 20 feet below tho pipe at
2JS5 feet. The ga. that was strong
enough to bubble tho water In the
hole seems only to have came from
a pocket which Is one of many that
I ns heen struck. Tho Koxana peo-
ple think that the chance of getting
a well Is good because so many
pockets similar to the one Just
Htrurl" hnve been encountered and
certainly the chances of getting a
well at I.ncien look Just aa good a
Carter and Hidings. As a matter
of fact the Sinclair Oil Oa Co
traded a lease at (Jarber for a 1U-
clcrt tract before starting the orig-
inal Hoy well in 2K.22-4W which
opened the Clarher pool.

Oil Showing at Norma n.
The n. R. Oil Co. well on
the Trueblood farm in the north-
west corner of tho northeast of
the southwest of 29-Sn-4w had about
3 feet of sand at about the 2150
foot depth and the sand showed a
little oil but not enough to make
a well. It Is being deepened.
The showing Is important as the
Treasure State well In section 1.1-1n-5w
had a small showing at 2-
000 feet about two months ago. The
sano. may be the same and per-
haps stands a chance of being regu-
lar and productive In spots fine
thing Is certain and that Is that
the town of Norman deserves oil If

I have organized an hnnest-to-gnod-ness
oil comnnnv and are nnttlnar
down a real test fur oil in 31 -9n-le
east of the city and there is
no rake-off being mde from the
stockholders. The only reason be-
ing given for making the test is that
Norman wants to be an oil town.
C. N. Sherman Hack from N. MT.
C. N. Sherman Is back from New
Mexico and states that In his opin
ion the oil found between Koswell
and Dayton comes from s sand
round below the water sand. Mr.
Sherman says that the shale or di
vision between the oil and water is
so very thin that It Is Impossible (o I
drill Into the oil wlthriut breaking I
tne nei so that It takes in all the
water there Is and that Is the At
lantic ocean. He says that It Is!
necessary to pump 1400- barrels of
water per day to get a barrel and a
half of oil. He thinks thero are
probably good chances to find oil in
the vicinity but says his company
has decided to discontinue drilling I
operations for the present. I
New Riga I'p Nonr Colo Pool.
John Markham Jr. and others!
have erected a rig In the northeast
corner of tho northwest of the
northeast of 114-1 5 on the lease!
which adjoins the lea.se of the Ce-
lestlne OU company to the east andil
will drill No. 4. II
The Celestlne Oil company has
built a rig for No. S on tho Manuel
farm In the northeast corner of the!
southeast of tho northeast of the'
same section.
Ardigzone and associate have
rig up for No. 2 on the N. Inirant
farm in the center of the west line'
of the southeast of the southeast of

there are more familiar faces around
the Westhrook than In the lobby of
