The democrats generally pledge
themselves individually and as a

For Clerk of District Court
N. F. (iramlich, democratic
nominee for Clerk of the District
Court, lives in Lvnn township,
where he owns a good fat in, which
he operates in season and finds
time to successfully teach winter
terms of school.
"Nick" came to Oklahoma in
lSS'J, hence none can claim a pre-
cedence from point of residence.
He is one of this county's most
successful educators, a greater
part of the past 15 years being de-
voted to school work.
He was probably the first to ad-
vocate the economical plan of con
ducting county offices—pledging
himself, if elected, to perform the
duties of this otlice at the legal
salary based on the actual popu-
lation of the county, and not to
employ a deputy to do his work
at the expense of the county.
Mr. Gramlich's friends arc limi-
ted only to his acquaintance and
none doubt his ability to conduct
the duties of the office in a suc-
cessful and business-like manner.
He is a young man and worthy
of your support.

Still Whites Man's Disrtict
The report circulated last week
and given publicity in the P-D
that a negro justice and negro
constable were nominated in this
district has been proven to be
false. The story was generally-
told on the street and as no figures
were available at this office, we
accepted the statement.
We freely take all blame that
can possibly rest on us, and that
without in any way blaming the
genius who manufactured the
story.
The real astonishing feature of
the matter is that the white men
who were concerned in the elec
tion, and who now claim to know
h^w matters stood, did not view
the situation as a huge jpke in-
stead of otherwise.
A man in politics should be big
enough and broad enough to take
such adverse matters much as a
duck takes water on its back
shake them olf with a smile.

For our |mrt mm would rather the

place llian have the matter tied up
in the courts. A compromise is
infinitely better than this bull
headed dissent ii in exhibited b\

aside their petty jealousies and
work together for the good of the
community rather than personal

I his gigantic monopoly has
nothing to hope for in the elec
tion of President Taft, because it
was under .Mr. Taft's administra-
tion that suit was instituted
against it. Likewise Mr, Wilson's
election would be disastrous.
But Mr Roosevelt declined.
while president, to prosecute the
steel trust, and lie allowed the
trust to gather in its great south
em rival, the Tennessee Coal and
Iron company. More than this,
during his seven years' occupa-
tion of the White House, Mr.
Roosevelt took no action which
looked toward a genuine revision
of the tariff.
No wonder that Mr. 1'erkins is
to be the treasurer of the new
party. He has already contribut-
ed handsomely, and the barrel is
still open. It is, however, an im-
position upon human credulity to
believe that his generosity has no
selfish end in view.

Hennessey Wins
In the third and last game of
ball of the series between Hen-
nessey and Waukomis, which was
played Sunday, Waukomis went
down in defeat, the score being 0
to -1 in favor of the home boys.
A great number of interested
b ise ball fans came down from
Waukomis to help root for their
team which was so sure of winning
the day.
It was said to be one of the
most interesting games that has
been played for some time, on
account of it being the 3d and
deciding game.

days this week at the Steve Kads
