An Ordinance authorizing and regula-
lating collection of Road Ttx; and
defining the duty of the street com-
missioner and fixing a penalty for
failure to comply with the require-
ments thereof:
He it ordained by the President and
Board of Truftees of the Town of
Yukon, 0!;lahoma;
Section 1 That any male citizen of
this state between the ages of twenty-
one and lift\ y *rs, who shall have re-
sided in the town of Yukon thirty days,
and who is not a county or township
charge, and who has not performed
road duty elsewhere in the stale of
Oklahoma in thai year, shall be subject
to a road duty of two days of eight
hours, in ea;h year; Provided, thai
' any person of whom any road duty is
i required may furnish a substitute sat-
isfactory to the street commissioner,
to work out said duty, and one d«y's
work of man and team shall be equiva-
lent to two days work of man alone;
Provided, further, that any person
I liable for road duty may pay at or be-
; fore the time he is warned to woik,
, in cash the sum of one dollar per day in
lieu of said road duty. The street com-
missioner shall have authority to re-
fuse to accept any substitute who is
unsatisfactory to him, and to disthtrge
any person warned to work or at.y sub-
stitute sent in lieu of such person when
he fails to perform reasonable service
or to obey the instructions of thes'reet
commissioner. All such work to be
done between the ffrst days of Febru-
ary and December.
Section 2. That it shall be the duty
of the street commissioner to serve a
written notice of not less than three
days upon each person in the town of
Yukon subject to road duly, notifying
him of the time and | lace, when and
where lie i.i expected to perform such
work or pay said monty in lieu thereof.
Section 3. If any person after being
so notified fail to perform said work
[ or pay the money in lieu thereof, ex
cept in case of sickness or unavoidable
accident, lie shall be deemed guilty of
a misdemeanor and shnll be fined In a
sum not less than six nor more than
twenty-five dollars.
