Guthrie. Dec. 10.—The house re-
sumed its labors at 1 o'clock yester-
day after the week's end recess.
Mi'. Vaudcventer presented the re-
port of the joint committee on ar-
ranging for the election of United
States senators. Tho report was
adopted.
Bill No. 8, by ' Vandeventer. came
up as a special order for third read-
ing. This Is the bill providing for
the loaning, investment, and deposit
of tho permanent school fund. The
house resolved itself Into a commit-
tee of the whole for tho considera-
tion of the bill, Mr. Durant being
called to the chair. Bronson of Mus-
kogee, offered a long amendment to
tho (effect that bankers receiving
this money be required to pay 4 per
cent interest, not over $50,000 to
any one bank, and not over $100,000
to any one county.
Mr. Murray made a warm speech
against the amendment, when he
spoke in favor of the small bank as
agninst the larger ones.
It is understood that the list of
committees will probably not be giv-
en out until the house meets this
afternoon. The appointment of these
committees is one of the most im-
portant matters that have come up
thus far during the session. There
were numerous applicants for posi-
tions on the various committees,
most of the members preferring to
serve on those committees which will
have to do with measures in which
they are particularly interested.
Speaker Murray has adopted the
same plan regarding the committees
as he did when president of the con-
stitutional convention, that of ap-
pointing only those men on commit-
tees who seemed to be especially At
ted for the place. This matter has
been under consideration for several
days and has been a source of much
toil for Speaker Murray and his as-
sistants.
