A Man Worth Mentioning.
One of the prominent men of Cow-
ley county who is taking a substan-
tial interest in the development of
Kay county, is P. II. Albright, of
Winfield. 11 is faith in the county is
intense and were it not for his large
holdings at Winlield and vicinity, lu
would take up Ills permanent resi-
dence here, having frequently cx-
| pressed a desire to do so.
Mr. Albright is an eastern man by
birth, but unlike many eastern capi-
talists, shows his interest in the West
by making his residence in the West.
About twenty year^im he came to
Cowley county from Hartford, Con
necticut. and has since made it his
home with his family, consisting of
| wife and two children.
lie has numerous investments and
I is always foremost in zeal when im-
provements touching the general wel-
I fare of his fellow citizens arc at st ake.
At present he is engaged with a
I force of men near Silverdale, just
north of the Kay county line, in pros-
pecting for lead, zinc, or natural gas.
lie has five prospect, holes and has ex-
pended over$5000 in a patient effort to
ascertain the hidden mysteries below
lour fertile soil. The result of his
work in this direction shows strong
| evidences of I hi til lead and zinc.
Over a year ago Mr. Albright open-
led up a branch of his loan business
here, placing the management in the
hands of Mr. Chase Johnson, who
with his family, makes Newkirk his
I permanent home. Recently Mr. Joe
English, well and popularly known in
leaching circles, was added to the
I force.
Kay county is to be congratulated
on adding to her list of admirers and
zealous promoters the name of P. II.
Albright, for the enterprise and ener-
gy of sued) men add to the welfare of
all our citizens. Our citizens will re-
call t he generous premiums paid out
by the linn. They are a sample of
what may he expected in the future.
