MUKDEKOR SUICIDE?
The Dead Body Of Chas. Volz
Found by Neighbors. Foul
Play Suspected,
anted : A girl to do house work
in a small family. Knquire at resi-
dence of Professor Wilcox on North
Duck street near the college. Refer-
ences required.
Hemember the place— Hand's drug
store for city school books. 109
The report reached Stillwater yes-
terday afternoon at about 3:30 o'c'ock
that Chas. Volz, a prominent farmer
of Hock township, and w ho lives about
ten miles from Perry, had been found
dead by neighbors.
A messenger was hastily sent here
with a request that the coroner and
sheriff come to that place at once. The
messenger did not seem to know any-
thing about the particulars and could
not say whether or not the death was
the result of foul play. Sheriff Messer
and Coroner Sharpless left immediate-
ly for the neighborhood. At this writ-
ing they have not retorned and it is
impossible to get any particulars.
Those who seem to know something of
the circumstances surrounding the
mysterious death, hint at the theory
that it is possible his wife may know
something of the affair.
XjATKR.
Coroner Sharpless and Sheriff Hes-
ser returned at noon today and
from them we obtain the information
that Mr. Volz committed suicide. The
coroner empaneled a jury of promi-
nent neighbors and they returned a
verdict of "death by his own hand."
Twelve years ago Mr. Volz and his
wife were divorced by the courts of
Payne county and since that time Mr.
\ ol/. has squandered a considerable
amount of his share of the property as
it was divided.
A little over a year ago he returned
to his wife and begged for her to keep
him. She reluctantly consented to I
letting him stay in her house. From'
that time on he has been as a sort of;
tool in her hands. She pressed Vol/ '
^ into service many times when he was j
physically unable to perform such ser- I
vice owing to his limited allowance of;
food. .Mrs. Volz gave him rations very
sparingly. Volz often threatened to'
take his own life during the past year.
