School district No. 1 gave a box so-
cial Wednesday evening. Proceeds
to be applied to painting the school
house.
A big wojf hunt is planned for next
Saturday. The south line of Rock
Falls township will be the north line
of the hunt.
Rev. Sam G. Keys, of the M. E.
church of Blackwell has began a series
of meetings at the Lone Tree school
house in Renfrew township.
Many of our people are making
preparations to attend the Sunday
school copventlon to be held at Lowe
Center, Feb. 25, being a joint session
of Lowe, Vernon and Rock Kails town-
ship Sunday schools.
There is a rumor with a good found-
ation too, that the townsite of Rock
Falls will be sold soon under mortgage
foreclosure. Those owning property
there are quite uneasy as to what ex-
tent it will effect their titles.
John Youngmyer has purchased the
proved up farm formerly owned by
Claude Kneer, situated in Renfrew
township, five miles west of Blackwell.
He will farm It in connection with liis
own fine claim in this township.
Most of our young society fellows
recognized St. Valentine's day by send-
ing their favorite lady friends tokens
appropriate of the occasion. Jerry
Crowley lyent the boys one better by
sending two valentines to the same
young lady. “Libre.”

Representative Republicans of Kay
County Xpet at Blackwell,
and Endorse Flynn
for Governor.
On last Saturday afternoon, a large
number of representative republicans
of Kay county met in Blackwell and
drafted resolutions, endorsing Hon.
D. T. Flynn for governor of Oklahoma.
Capt. Chas. Day, of Blackwell, was
npfde chairman pf the meeting and
N, E. Heeney. of Rock Falls township,
was ciipsen secretary. Eulogizing
speeches enthusiastically favoring
our retiring delegate to congress were
made and heartily endorsed! .and
committee on resolutions, of which
Dr. L. S. Skelton was chairman, w
appointed. The following resolutions
were presented and adopted:
Whereas: The Hon. D. T. Flynn is
thoroughly equipped by virtue of ex-
perience and acquaintance with the
needs of this territory, and undoubt-
edly has the endorsement and good
will of more people in the territory
than any other available person.
fie it Resolved:— Tnat we, confident-
ly urge his appointment as governor
of the territory of Oklahoma, assured
that such action will meet thg com-
mendation of a large majority pf the
people of the territory regardless of
political affiliations.
Resolved: That a copy of these
resolutions he forwarded to the Wich-
ita Eagle, Guthrie State Capital, Na-
tional Committeeman Henry E. Asp,

Sun last Monday night, was well at-

The attendance at the school is

Charlie Yarnell was riding one horse
trying to catch another when his
horse fell and broke its neck. Char-
lie’s head received such a shock that
his mind has been wandering ever
since. It Is very sad and should he a
warning fotlie hoys.
There has been no Sunday school at
Racket for a long time, but when fhe
Weather clears up there will b« Sun-

Sank Foster m&de a trip to Black,
well the first of last week to look after
the arrangement of the building into
which they will reinqve their stock of , ,

here for the past 5 years and over,

they think Blackwell is the coming
town in the Strip, and as an opening
for an exclusive dry goods store now

Webber, Holland, Mass., had a very
bad cold and cough which he had not

At a regular meeting of the county
republican central committee, ail
members being present, held at Black-
well, on Saturday, Feb. 13th. 18»7, the
following resolutions were unanimous-
ly adopted:
Resolved. That we, the republican
pounty central committee, do cordial-
ly endorse tl?e candidacy pf Hon. D.
T. Flynn for governor of Oklahoma
Territory, and earnestly recommend
his appointment: and instruct the
secretary to forward a copy to Hon,
H. E. Asp, territorial committeeman,
Wichita Eagle, Guthrie Stjte Capital
and coupty republican papers.

Wolf Hunt.
There will be a wojf hupt in Iten-
frow township Saturday. Feb. 20th,
besides Renfrow township the hunt
will include the tier of sections on thu
north and west of the township. The
roundup will lie on the north west i of
section Hi, Renfrow tp. Captains an:
Messrs, Youngniio,-, Sears, Boat wick,
Treadway, Carmichael, Alford, Hig-
gins and Stewprt, who are to select
assistants wljere necessary. The hunt
will begin at !l o’clock a. in. and end
at 12 M. In case of storm on above
date, the hunt will be on the follow,

Rules: Drivers to go on foot, car-
ry no lire arms except shot guns: all
dogs to be led. No horsemen allowed

lican central committee held in this
city, on Feb. 13th, 18117, the following
resolutions of respect were adopted:
