a dandy time.
Mr. and Mrs. Jos. H. Shafer left
Wednesday for Hot Springs, Arkan-
sas, where they will remain some
time for the benefit of Grandma's
health.
Joe Shafer is working for Mr. R.
A. Tidwell.
This community was greatly sad-
dened Monday when the sad news
came telling of the death of Mrs.
E. G. Hays. She with Mr. Hays had
been in Hot Springs, Arkansas, sev-
eral months with the hopes that she
would gain her health, but she im-
proved very slowly and the end
came at 1:00 a. m., Monday. The
remains accompanied by Mr Hays,
were brought to Alva Wednesday.
The funeral services were held in
the Whitehorse school house at 2:00
p. m., Friday, where a number of
friends and relatives paid their last
respects, after which the remains
were laid to rest in the cemetery
near by. She will be greatly missed
as she and Mrs. Hays came to
Woods county about thirteen years
ago and have lived on their home-
stead ever since. She was a kind
friend, always willing to lend a
helping hand, and she leaves a host
of relatives and friends to mourn
her loss. SUNBEAM.
