Communicated.
Ellis County Republican,
Gage, Okla,
Gentlemen:
I have been reading with interest
the comments of the different papers
at Gage and Shattuck on the county
seat question.
To the average unprejudiced mind
who does not know the real conditions
existing in the two towns he might
be lead to believe through the build-
ing of “hot air castles”, especially
the Monitor office, that Shattuck
was the only town in Ellis county
worthy of consideration.
It happened to be my pleasure a
short time ago to be in Shattuck and
later in Gage. Upon arriving at that
town I could not help feel the stability
of the town and to know that its
many industries and residences were
owned by it own citizens and not by
eastern capitalists. Gage is and has
progressed steadly and on a sound
basis since its inception. Its indub-
tries and business keeping busy and
paying best interest to the farmer.
The sensible thinking farmer and
others should think well in the selec-
tion of this County Seat. Note the
advantages and disadvantages of each
of them then vote. Considerations
should not be given to the many“Hot
air blasts” but should deal
with justs facts^after which I believe
you could only come to the conclusion
that Gage is the logical center of
Ellis county and has the natural ad-
vantages which the farmer should
consider and which will be of advant-
age to him in his later trips to the
county feat. And he should not by
a foolish vote place the county seat
at a point of disadvantage to himsel:1
and the masses but should place
where it will do the greatest good

Poor Arnett! She sees the hand-
writing on the wall, and, weeping and
wringing her hands, calls on Shattuck

what ha9 transpired between the two

approval of the people here. Mr.
