ion that we have had this year. Rev.
Gordon has already become a great
favorite with the students. We
highly appreciate such broad men
and their inspiring help. We are
anxiously looking forward to when
we may have the privilege of listen-
ing to another one of his lectures.
The N. S. N. debate club put on a
stunt Monday evening in the Asso-
ciation room. A great time was en-
joyed in an ancient debate of the
Halloween type. Ghost stories were
told, after which refreshments were
served. This was the third annual
Halloween stunt and was one to be
well remembered with pleasure.
The play to be put on in the near
future by the Shakespeare club is en-

There is nothing in the world that
can keep Alva from having the best
Y. M. Association in the entire state.
One of the greatest reasons for this
statement is that Sunday there was

Don’t forget the game today. The
Pi Kappa Sigma girls will serve
candy at the grounds.
The April Fool bug is still busy for
a very prominent young man whose
name we wiTl refrain from mention-
ing for the sake of modesty, but who
is sometimes nicknamed the “Flat-
terbox,” was called from a deep
and profound sleep at eleven o’clock
and led to believe it was five o’clock
a. m. notwithstanding the fact that
several young couples were annoying
the entire neighborhood with boister
ous laughter and several automob-
iles passed with their attendant buzz.
After performing the necessary
morning ablutions, he settled down
to await daybreak and was still wait-
ing for the beautiful peep of dawn
at 5:00 a. m. this morning.
Don't forget that the Saturday
night club will serve Oysters, sand-
wiches and coffee, Saturday, October

west side of the square.

business men at the meeting. When
the business men get behind anything
here in Alva, we know it will go. God
fearing, big hearted business men will
make anything go that they under-
take.
A motion was entertained and pas-
sed to appoint necessary committees
to take immediate action in solicit-
ing for the necessary funds to bring
big Y. M. C. A. man here to work
m the field. This means that within
u very short time a man will be in
.Alva whose sole business it will be
to look after the interests of our
boys and young men. Alva should
be proud of this movement and get
behind it.
The faculty committee selected is
composed of three: Pres. Grumbine,
Prof. A. V. Vinson and Prof. W. E.
Sloat.
The student committee is composed
of five members: Jesse Sears, Hugh
Glasgow, Bert Raney,Ike Julian and
Ben Rackley. These two committees
met in Pres. Grumbine’s office yes-
terday and the following committee
was elected from the Alva Commer-
cial Club: H. E. Mason, W. W. Starr,
A. W. Kavanaugh, Alva Sible, N. R.
Gascho, J. W. Monfort, Rev. Ander-
son, Dr. G. N. Bilby, Prof. A. G. Vin-
son and E. W. Tanner. This is a
strong committee and it will soon
be prepared to present a plan for
definite work. .
