Who will bo olcctbd president of the
territorial federation of women's clubs
at the coming territorial mooting to
bo hold at Kingfisher In May scorns to
bo a question that id being closely con-
sidered. A number of the leading la-
dies in club work in Oklahoma aro be-
ing talked of in connection with the
office.
In an intetviow with a very promi-
nent member of the city federation to
day sho stated that "the recent vl&it
horo of Mrs. tfolwyn Douglas has made
her no friends. Of course two ur
thrco ladies endeavored to have the
club ladies out to tho Shakespeare
Club meeting to meet the distinguish-
ed guest but you know it la not for-
gotten that wo prepared to recolvo her
at ono timo and she practical"!; eiQnl-
fled her contempt for our clubs by
staying away and then fifteen mlnutc
beforo time for her to arrlvp here sho
telephoned it wob it was l.n ossible
for hor to bo hero and havi'j t revl--ouoly
stated sho would nat iail us.
Yee of course her visit hero the other
day ostensibly for tho purposo of see-
ing how tho laud lay. Sho is a
standing candidate for territorial
president flavo you soon her Inter-
view in tho Times-Journal about hor
"visit hero and as to what has been
said In regard to lb by a Guthrie
paper?"
'No. What was it?"
Well it is as follows: "Have I as-
pirations fot- tho presidency of the
General Federation? No of course
uot. I uovor thought of such a thing.
If I had it would be oxtremoly ridicu-
lous in me. Docs anyono suppose that
New York with hor 25000 club wo-
men or Massachusetts with her 20000.
or Illinois with her 15000 would al
Iowa president elected from Oklaho-
ma and Indian territories with her
650 women? I would stand about an
good a chance -of gutting tho presi-
dency of tho Goneral Federation as
tho nowspapor man who wrote that
report wou'd of being president of
tho United States
There in sometuing wrong with
that Uulhrie newspaper man anyway.
II o is the same follow who last fall lo-
cated the Oklahoma City Carnegie
library In Guthrie; who sold Uenry
Overholser that brick block in Guthrie
tho day Mr. Overholser gave him his
lots to get rid of Guthrie property. lie
is tho very Viamc 'man I am sure that
built tho Sapulpa railroad from Red
Rock to Outhrlo tho very day it came
into Oklahoma Oity from St. Louis.
' 'Please state positively that I nov-
cr for ono moment onertained such a
foolish idea. Tho Moderation of Olubs
is not' a political organization and
-wise women do not patch up fences
and pull wires or oQlcn Tho place
must seek tho woman and not tiro
woman tho place.' "
"Well It is my opinion sho would
not decline Buch small honors as that
Then to say such things. Well when
tho territorial meeting comes off the
olubs will oloct a lady from Wynne-
wood I. T for its president. Mrs.
Selwyn Douglass has had it long
enough.
"Yob that's all I'yo got toaay."

they lived in any other city. Bob has
had experience on tho marshal's force
and is no novtae. Bo sure to cast your
voto for Bob Meyers for marshal.
Jim Brooks tho hustler will make a
good man in tho olty council. City

as private business. Public ofllco is

Kvery married man must asfc his wife's
permission to make n success." That was
a Aaying of a wise old clergyman who knew
that marriage was a partnership in the
broadent sense and that there win be no
success in any partnership in which the
partners do not contribute equally to make
success possible. For this if for
no other reason every man who
is trying to climb the ladder of
success should be interested in
hia wife's health. A healthy
woman is always ucipiul.

woman depleted
in strength and
depressed in mind

neither mentally
nor physically to n

dence adduced at that trial was to the
effect that Miss Miusel suffered no in-
