Other Resources from the OHS Research Center

The Oklahoma Historical Society' collections contain materials ranging from before statehood to the present day, in a variety of formats. Some of the resources listed below are available to view online; others may be viewed in person at the Oklahoma History Center or submit an order to purchase copies of materials.

  • Newspaper Archive - Although the Gateway offers only newspapers published before 1923, the OHS Newspaper Archive includes Oklahoma newspapers on microfilm dating from pre-statehood to the present day. Patrons can view the microfilm in-house or contact OHS to order copies.

  • Photograph Archive - OHS holdings consists of over 9 million photos; more than 60,000 images are included in the OHS Online Catalog.

  • Maps “ View historic maps of Oklahoma Territory, Indian Territory and the State of Oklahoma in the OHS Online Catalog. Patrons can also order prints of historic maps.

  • Manuscript Archive - To find out about the paper documents, records, correspondence and much more included in the Manuscript Archives, search the Online Catalog. Patrons can view the manuscript materials in-house or contact us to order copies.

  • Oral Histories & Audio - Audio and oral history interviews are listed in the Online Catalog. Patrons can listen to or view the materials in-house or contact us to order copies.

  • Genealogical information - Valuable genealogical resources can be found on the OHS website. Indexes for select obituaries, marriages, divorces and probates; the 1890 Oklahoma Territory Census index, the Dawes Final Roll, and an index to Smith's Directory, military deaths, and more are available to search online.

  • Oklahoma Resources - Various info and links pertaining to Oklahoma are listed here; find out about state symbols, our governors, the Constitution of the State of Oklahoma and more.
