Visitors to Oklahoma
Can't Afford -
to return to their old homes or select new ones
without tirst having visited Chandler and seen Lincoln county.
| Why? Because they offer advantages to shrewd investors and
energetic home seekers that cannot be duplicated elsewhere. Be-
cause the price of land in Lincoln county is lower in proportion to
its value than in any other part of Oklahoma, and yet there is no
section of the great southwest whose possibilities are greater.
Because Chandler is the county seat, the oldest and largest town,
the business center of the best county in the territory, and an
honest inquiry into the truth concerning this section will repay
you many fold.

Chandler was settled in September, 1*91, when the reservations
ising Lincoln county were thrown open for settlement.
\v;i> selected by4 lie government :is the county seat and was given
j its present, location in the exact center of the county in order to
| avoid the efforts at county seat removal so common in new coun-
tries. It has always been the le:tding I own and business point in
th county, but, until the completion of the Frisco railway last fall
it was at a serious disadvantage m handling the trade of the rich
' counlry which surrounds it. Being unable to offer a home mar-
j ket for the products of the county, the the thousands of dollars'
i worth of cotton, corn, wheat, hogs, cattle, and other products of
the county had to be taken outside of t he county for shipment, and
so the growth of Chandler as a business center was very much re-
tarded. Since the completion of the Prised, however, giving
1 Chandler a direct connection with the best markets of the west,
| the town lias bounded rapidly to the front, increasing its business
1 several hundred percent, by bringing in the retail trade that
formerly went outside the county, erecting 'substantial business
buildings, improving streets and roads leading into town, and
making other public improvements. Today the Prisco railroad
does more business at Chandler than at any other |> nut in the two
territories east of Oklahoma City, and from every other source
comes t lie evidence that Chandler is destined to become the leading
city of 1 he eastern tier of counties in this territory. Why? Be'cause i
the prosperity of the town is not built upon the insecure foundation !
iof boom methods, but upon the lasting basis of «tlie trade of the!
richest and most productive county in Oklahoma. Because its;
buildings and business enterprises are not inaugurated by a town !
company as an aid in selling town lots, but by men who have
! lived and d« n« business-in Chandler for years past and who have j
unbounded faith in the future of the town. Because the town is
tied by a class of men whose enterprise and pluck have tri
plied over every obstacle and built a town while other commun-
s were idly waiting.

Lincoln ciiunty has never known a crop failure. Its rainfall is
more regular and abundant and iis seasons are more favorable to
successful and profitable farming than any other section of Okla-
homa. It has an area of 9iK) square miles, and. though in places
the land is somewhat rough, there is no waste land. It has a •popu-
lation of 25,000 energetic, law-abiding people, but there is room for
; many more of the same kind. It, is adapted to the growing of a
Igreater variety of products than any other section of the north or
south. Though but a small portion of the land is in cultivation as
j.yet, the p oduction last year of over :>o,ih)<i bales of cotton, over one
million bushels.of corn, thousands of head of cattle and hogs, and
almost every other crop in like abundance, gives an idea of the
; wealth that will be produced when the country is thoroughly
develop d, and the opportunities that are offered to men of thrift
who wish to better their condition. Socially, the. people are the
equal of any of those in any of the older states. The educational
advantages are the wonder of all visitors, for Lincoln county,
! though not eight years old, has more than 125 school districts
suitable buildings and with schools as good as those in the
older states. The Various churches are well represented and
many of them have good buildings.
