Fifth Ward Muddle.
There is considerable muddle up in
the new fifth ward as to who are the
regular citizens' nominee for alder-
men. Brandow and Millard were
nominated by a regularly organized
convention which was open to all
citizens and Graham and Light were
placed in nomination through the
circulation of a petition. A mass
convention gives everybody a voice
but a petition is always presented by
the close friends of applicants for
office only. Therefore the Wave is
of the opinion that Bandow and Mill-
ard are the regular nominees of the
citizens' ticket and should have been
so placed on the city tickets; but
election commissioners decided
j Hennessey yesterday on the local
freight and attended to some busi-
ness"; wishing to reach Enid before
the land office closed, he bribed the
I section men to bring him up on the
hand car; he changed cars twice,
! reaching here before 4 o'clock, all
sweaty and great big blisters on his
i fingers.
Both of Enid's banks were hauled

he only fined the #1.20 apiece. The

the reverse. The WAVE is not in-
lined to interfere in the selection of
aldermen from the fifth ward; let
the people make their own choosing
without outside ideas.
The Largest of Them all.
Yesterday, the Pabst brewing com-

Henry Ryan, contracted with Elliott

town. It 'is a two story building,

Guatemala.
There is quite a fever arising
among Enid people to emigrate to
Guatemala in Central America.
The Wave man caught the fever a
little yesterday, but we find that
Guatemala means hot tamale in
English. In looking up the history
of the country at mid-night last
night we find that hot tamales ripen
on the huckleberry bushes of that
country about Christmas time when
heat from the equator registers about
137 in the shade. In the summer
time people cannot wear any clotnes
at all except a celluloid collar and
the lightest kind of a neck tie. Whit
tinghill's "naked in the strip at for-
ty" is bad enough, but to go to a
country where a man is compelled to
go naked or be fired into Oleomarger-
ine, is more than we could endure

W. O. Cromwell informs the Wave |
that he is on the program as witness
in another Swede marriage, which is
to come off before long. He says he
will charter a wheelbarrow and take
a whole load of us out. Mr. Cromwell
always was generous, even with
Swede weddings.
