Description: Photograph of Elk City resevoir after a flood. It shows severe outting on backslope of dam. This dam overtopped its entire length before it broke. This picture gives an idea of the amount of water that was flowing over the dam before its break. This flood was caused by a six inch rain that fell in one night, three inches of which fell in 45 minutes. OK-5137.

Notice how all the soil which has been loosened by the plow was taken out of the channel at the bottom of the drainage, and how the small gullies in general followed the direction of the lister plow furrows up and down the slope.
