Caption: "Haward Carleton, now living east of Perkins, Okla., who was in the U.S. forest service when the first shelterbelt plantings were made in 1935. Here he is shown with the first tree planted in the p[roject, an Austrian pine on the H. E. Curtis farm in the Lake Creek community of Greer county. The tree was only two feet tall when planted. It is 20 feet now"
