Vegetation will be allowed to become well-established before terrace water is emptied into it. Terraces will be constructed in the field and will empty into channel from both sides. Description: Photograph of a Finn mulching machine demonstration. A Finn Klodbuster consisting of a series of chains with picks, which revolve around on swivels as it is being pulled. A variable weight slope wheel keeps the chain at an approximate right angle to the towing vehicle on slopes 3:1 and steeper. ¾ inch reinforcing steel picks with blunt ends are best for loose, coarse textured soil and for renovation work. Sorghum was planted after harvesting small grains. Sideoats grama will be sown with native grass seed drilled in 36 inch rows and cultivated for seed production. Contour Farming

Description: Photograph of Mr. and Mrs. Adolph javarsky and Mr. and Mrs. Ken Javarsky are plowing terraced land on the contour. Terraces spill into alfalfa waterway in left background. Waterway produced 400 bales of hay on most recent cutting. Javarsky says with hydraulic equipment very few problems are encountered in plowing the land.
