Strip Mining, Reclamation

Description: Photograph of a 40 acre field of bermuda grass on an area which was previously coal strip pits. The area was used by the city of Okmulgee for a saniatry landfill. This area was used for disposal between 1955 and 1960. OK-2903-12.

Description: Photograph of Carland Smith, owner of several abandoned coal pits, reserves this ara fro his family and very close friends. He has two docks, electricity and running water. He plans to build a cabin in thi area. This pit is fertized according to recommendations. He has been successful inobtaining a good "bloom" in this pit.
