Irrigation project was possible because of the protection afforded by 4 floodwater retarding structures on upper end of Mill Creek. Ensilage, alfalfa, barley, and grain sorghum are grown for feed. Sugar drip cans made 50 tons of ensilage per acre with 2 cuttings. The crop was heavily fertilized and irrigated from deep wells. Feed pens have a capacity of 1500 to 2000 head.
