This land had been formerly cultivated and is now being planted with native bluestem grasses, using an Ezee-Flow fertilizer spreader as a planter and a rotary hoe cultivator being pulled in reverse. The seeds were harvested and obtained under Soil Conservation District supervision as the farm is under a Soil Conservation program. Mr. Vance shown in the picture. OK-240-8.

Description: Photograph of Weeping Love Grass. The weeping love grass was planted 8 years ago on blow sand (Soil Unit 12) has made from 200 to 250 pounds of seed per acre since. One year during a drought, the owner, Howard Carleton, grazed 30 cows for 12 months on the 34 acres in the field. Planting weeping lovegrass on this soil unit 12 not only provided good seed crop and pasture, it reduced erosion on this land. OK-324-4.
