Tom Morris Enterprises will build North Park Mall at the southeast corner of NW 122, May, about a mile north of his Quail Plaza center and a mile east of The Greens, a planned residential community. The mall will be placed on 24 acres and cost about $5 million Morris said. Morris also announced plans for expansion of Quail Plaze which currently includes several shops and the Quail Twin Theaters. The North Park Mall will be anchored by a 25,000-square-foot Safeway outlet. It will include the first four-screen indoor theater in Oklahoma, Morris said. The theaters will be fully automated and will be operated by North Park Cinema Four Inc. The Safeway store will include several new features not used in the existing outlets, according to Earl Templton, Western Oklahoma division manager and vice president. Templeton said the new store will include a complete in-store bakery, one of only three such facilities for Safeway in Oklahoma City. All the bakery goods will be manufactured in the store. Other features include 256 feet of frozen food cases and a new type of checkout counter in which the grocery cart is on the same level as the checkout. The checker pushed a lever and the side of the cart opens for items to be slid onto the checkout, Templton said. (photo tag: Artist's rendering shows North Park Mall.)"
