Speaking at a dinner meeting of MIT advisors and trustees, faculty and friends of OCU, Bishop Smith also said: "You not only have the enthusuastic endorsement of the church, but iur profound gratitude for your help and investment of your talents and your possessions in the growth of Oklahoma City University into one of the great independent and liberal istitutions of America.".......MIT President J. A. Stratton has named a five-man advisory committee "to help create scientific climate" desired at OCU. All men of eminence in the science field, committeemen include Dr. Albert G. Hill, professor of physics; Dr. Patrick D. Wall, associate professor of biology; Dr. Naom A. Chomsky, amthematician and electrical engineer, and Prof. Roland B. Greely, associate professor of regional planning. Consultant to the committee is Dr. Jerrold Zacharias, professor of physics and head of MIT's physical science study committee.........."There is no thought of making OCU a mere shadow of the Massachuseyys Institute of Technology," said Dean McGee, president of Kerr-McGee Industries, Inc., and general chairman of the $2,545,000 fund drive." The Perry children came to Oklahoma City to wind up their summer recreation program. This is the twentieth year Daniels has headed the excursion. There were eight school buses loaded with children in the caravan that visited Oklahoma City Thursday. Most of the children learned how to swim this summer. Of the 240 who participated in the summer recreation program only eight still unable to take care of themselves in the water. the group went to a movie shortly after they arrived here Thursday. Then they went to Springlake for a swim. About 4:30 they went to Lincoln park zoo where Judy put on a special show. Most of the Perry youngsters were already aquainted with Judy. Bert Pettus of Clydes Brothers circus, trained her there. She was put through her tricks by Joe Hoback of the zoo staff. other chaperons with the children were Mrs. Sylvia McCubbins and Orian Lemler. The group left for Perry about 6:30 p.m."
