A thriving farm community, Harrah has nearly doubled its population since 1950. The current estimated 1,500 population is swelled by a great numer of Tinker Air Force Base emploes. Fifty-two new homes were built last year. Indicative of this growth is the rise in deposits at First State Bank of Harrah from $800,000 to $1,825,000 in the last five years. Harrah was originally plotted in 1908 by Frank Harrah, a merchant, who laid out the town on an 80-acre Indian allotment purchased from Louis Navarre. The railroad running from top to bottom of the photograph is the Rock Island...At the center top is the section where the new homes have been built to house newcomers. it is just south of the Catholic Church and school. The elevator at left center is Jerski Mill & Elevator Co."

O. Mulhausen, chamber of commerce president, estimates 1,150 persons live in the growing community 19 miles northeast of downtown Oklahoma City. This aerial photograph by jim Lucas, Daily Oklahoman photographer, shows this growth. In the upper right of the picture are nearly 60 new homes built on land purchased and developed without profit by leading civic boosters. This photo looks west down the main street of Jones, which is parralleled by the main line of the Frisco railway. At far left can be seen the Jones High School. many of the residents of Jones work in the metropolitan area. Founded prior to the 1889 run by Luther Jones. Jones primarily is an agrigultural community. However, just east is the East Jones oil field. Indicative of recent growth is nearly 50 percent increase of First National Bank depositis to $1,719,000."

Officers said the vehicles were scattered for nearly one-half block down the street. Thisscene was the finale. The automobile on the right driven by Israel Gill, 64, of 1313 NE 8, collided with an automobile making a left turn, knocking it into another automobile. Gill's automobile careened across the street crashing into the vehicle shown, center, which was backing out of a parking space. The center driven by Haskell John Mack, 35, of 2701 Normandy, was pushed into the parked vehicle at the left. Gill was jailed for reckless driving by drinking. Three persons held overnight for questioning in a Midwest City woman's gunshot death were released from Pottawatomie County Jail shortly before noon today on a court order. Action came as 10 divers searched for weapons in a pond 2 1/2 miles southeast of Seminole where Mrs. Joan S. Drehmann's nude weighted body was found by three fishermen Thursday night. The sheriff's office said Dist. Judge Lloyd Henry ordered the three realeased when their attorney, Floyd Henson, presented a wtit of habeas corpus. "They were being held as material witnesses and the judge said that since no one had been charged, they were being freed," the sheriff's spokesman said. They three are Chuck Burnside, 38, Wewoka; Herbert Leon Rust, 34, and Leticia Cook, both are from Shawnee. Mrs. Cook was identified as Burnside's sister."
