This aerial photo by Jim Lucas, Daily Oklahoman staff photgrapher, shows where the diagonal shoots southeastward toward Midwest City from the Gary Expressway. the Gary road swings west toward the city at this point. the west approaches to the bridges over the North Canadian river are virtually complete, and the bridges are 96 percent complete. Work is in progress on virtually the entire length of the Superhighway, which will run 6 1/2 miles from this point to a half mile east of Tinker. the project will cost more than $10 million."

A group of about 30 players have been working out twice a week at Ice Arena, 200 NE 48, under coach Vernon Turner, a former amateur star at Duluth and later here and in Tulsa as he served as goalkeeper on professional teams. Dick Reno, spokesman for the group, reported that the players were prepared to start an amateur team to be known as the Oklahoma City Merchants as soon as uniforms and equipment can be procured...About 20 of the players are Canadians at the University of Oklahoma while the others live in or near Oklahoma City. "We want other players in the area to join us in fielding a top-flight amateur hockey team," he said Saturday. he can be reached by telephoning Jackson 8-3456......"We have requested for games with teams located in Tulsa, Amarillo, Albuquerque," Reno said, "Other teams in Denver, Omaha, Lincoln and Wichita have indicated they wanted games with our team. I'm sure we will have no difficulty up a good schedule."...Reno and Turner said they could have their team ready for its first game early in February."
