R. B. Moore, who went to New
Mexico from near Corner a year
ago last March, returned Mon-
day and will again locate near
here. He has a brother living
near Corner.

The Konawa ball team has re-
ceived a challenge from Maud to
play at that place June 30th.
The Chief does hope it will be
permitted to record a victory for
the home boys.
The Georgetown and Union
Hill ball teams crossed bats Sun-
day on the latter's ground. The
score stood 37 to 8 in favor of
Union Hill. It will be remember-
ed that the Konawa boys went
to Sacred Heart about three
weeks ago and played the Sacred
Heart, or Georgetown, team and
that the score stood 17 to 6 in
favor of Georgetown. But then,
Konawa has been practicing
since then.
A. P. Shaw, a deputy U. S.
marshal from Wewoka was cir-
culating in these parts Monday.

Mrs. Mary Buchanan, who
lives in Choctaw City, came in
Saturday to visit her mother and
sisters for a week. Mrs. Bu-
chanan is a daughter of Mrs.
Keeney.
Walter Payne was arrested
Saturday by Deputy U. S. Mar-
shal Sanders. Payne is charged
with carrying a concealed weap-
on. He gave bond for his ap-
pearance, the Robinson boys be-
ing two of his bondsmen.
Mrs. Ikenberger of Shawnee,
came down Saturday to see her
mother, Mrs. A. 0. Millsap. She
returned to Shawnee Monday

Autry Bros & Miller have
more new goods.
Miss Maggie Spangler went to
Ada Monday to visit friends.
She is expected to return this
evening,
W. H. Holman left Wednesday
for Muskogee to attend a conven-
tion of Ind. Ter. bankers yester-
day and today.

Konawa promises to be an ex-
tra good cotton market the com-
ing season. Besides the gin
here last year Mr. Hudson has
his new gin almost completed.
The machinery is being unload-
ed and placed in position this
week. This will be a four stand
gin of the latest pattern and
will be a credit to the town,
Newton & Broughton have their
sawmill almost ready to begin
work and will build thsir gin just
as soon as they get the lumber
sawed. This will make three
splendid up-to-date gins here.
There promises also to be a good
supply of buyers here also and
the farmers can rest assured
that by bringing their cotton to
Konawa they will get the very
highest market price for it.
W. A. Duncan is having a
four-room house built on his lots
north of Mr. Pegg's residence.
Bob Lacey has the contract
which insures a first-class job.
A party at Springfield, 111.,
who passed through Konawa re-
cently on the train was so im-
pressed with the general air of
prosperity of the town that he
got in communication with the
Konawa Reality Co. of whom he
purchased 9 lots although he nev-
er saw them.
Jndge Tate was over from We-
woka Saturdav to deliver the
transcript in the incorporation
matter to the committee. While
here the Judge started the organ-
ization of a republican club. A
roll was circulated Saturday and
quite a number of signatures ob-
tained. It was the intention to
meet Saturday night and organ-
ize but a building could not be
found, they all being in use for
some other purpose. The Judge
returned to Wewoka Sunday
evening but will be back a week
from tomorrow, Saturday, June
3, to organize his club. The
Judge says republican clubs are
being organized all over the ter-
ritory and that vigorous cam-
paign will be carried on to pro-
mote Statehood.
