GREAT BANQUET AT WOODWARD
“One of the most enj rysble
banquets ever given in this sec-
j lion of the state.”
The above was the opinion of
all who attended the Chamber of
I Commerce Banquet at Wojdwa-d
Saturday in honor of the opening
of (he Hank of Woodward.
Without a hitch the program
whs carried to completion under
the able guidance of Joe Pope,
Secretary of the Woodward Cham
her of Commerce. We heard
many c imp'imentary lemaiks
concerning his work and the
vigorous and efficient manner in
which he conducts his meetings
Prominent speakers from Wood
ward sang the praises of all who
helped in the re-organisation of
the new bank out of the wreck
of the Central Exchange Bank.
On* of town » ankers and mem
hers of the official family of the
new bank made short talks giv-
ing their view of the situation
and asking for the support of al
in the new venture.
All in all it was probably the
most unique get-together meeting
ever staged in Oklahoma— sroy

The High School play, “Back to
tne Farm” presented at the Hos.
pltal chanel last Thursday, proved
one o^the moBt enjoyable home
talent plays ever presented by
the local high school.
From first to last the students
showed the result of hard practice
and with but one or two excep-
tions not a line was forgotten.
At this witting (he high school
iaa been requested to give the
play at Buffalo, Kibby and sev-
eral other towns and it is thought
they will fill at least one or two
out of town dates.
To pick any individual of out-
standing merit in the caat would
be hard aa without exception the
parts were handled in a good man
ner. A large crowd attended the
play and the proceeds will be
used to take the Agriculture
class to Stillwater in April.
6000 RAIN Fill Hill
Human “owls” Saturday night
were the first of our citizens to
get a sprinkling of real rain for
a long time. A light aprinkle
greeted them but few thought it
was to continue about 16 hours.
Fi cm all reports the rain was
general over this part of the state
and wheat farmers are confident
it came in plenty of time to make
the wheat crop 100 per cent with
enough moisture later in growing
s -ason.
Weather observers are saying
'1 told you so” and are still pre-
dicting a wet spring.
