OWEN MENTIONED AS
GLASS’ SUCCESSOR
Senator Owen may be named to suc-
ceed Carter Glass as Secretary of the
treasury of the United States, accord-
ing to a “grape vine” report in politi-
car circles at the, capital yesterday,
following (he appearance in Muskogee
Tuesday of Homer Cummings, chair-
man of the democratic national cam-
paign committee.
Officials at the capitol yesterday re-
called the fact that Senator Owen is
the father of he present hanking and
currency system and declared that
he is qualified for the place. In his
address here' Tuesday night Cum-
mings, in discussing the merits of the
present banking system, paid tribute
to Owen’s work in the United States
senate in constructing the present
system.

Mr. Minord. Sessions of Woodstock,
Ohio, is in town to visit the family of
his brother-in-law Mr. A. H. Reynolds.
Mr. Sessions made himself kfiown
at tlje Globe office last Thursday in a
very interesting visit.
The editor was born at and lived
in his younger years near 'there and
forty years afco knew everybody in
that country. Mr. Sessions is now 77
years old but in fine health. He will
go from here to Topeka to visit his
son who is connected with the Capper
publishing hous?.

CHAPEL EXERCISES
At the Wednesday morning chapel
exercises readings were given by
Martha Lewis and Da- Montgomery, a
piano solo by Gladys McFarland, a
piano duct by Ethel Waite and Laura
Bouldin. These are the younger pupils
and their part on the program was
well received. L.. Brodadfe gave a talk
on Grade Athletics. Devotionals were
led by Guy Crons.

All arrangements are being per-
fected for the big spread at the expo-
sition hall on the fair grounds. Prom-
inent speakers will be on hand to ad-
dress the old settlers and a great re-
union will be .the feature of the
occasion. «

A. C. Shaffer, who has been at Eldo-
rado Springs, Mo., the past six weeks
taking the baths for his rheumatism,
has been bedfast part of the time, but
Mrs. Shaffer writes her brother, Mr.
Lemons, this week that he is improv-
ing and they feel encouraged.
