Pin# Tar and Honey Boat
AU Modern Drug#
In thousands of families it ha#
been the custom for many year* to
keep pine tar and honey always on
hand for coughs, chest colds, bron-
chitis, spasmodic croup, and throat
irritations. Our mothers knew that
it was good, that it often broke up
the worst cough in 24 hours, and
that it could be given to young and
old alike, as it contains no nar-
cotics or harmful drugs.
And now wo are told that in spite
of modern medical discoveries there
is still no better or quicker cough
remedy. Doctors say the pine tar
quickly loosens and removes the
phlegm and congestion that cause the
coughing, also healing soreness,
while the honey not only gives a
pleasant taste, but helps soothe irri-
tation.
The original compound, made up
many years ago and used by mil-
lions of pcople.was Dr. Bell's Pine-
Tar Honey. This is scientifically

TV VTARY Jane was three days deep in
I Y I the Enchanted Forest and had her
XTJ> first view of the Great Desert. She
had been to the sea shore lots of times, but
had never known there was so much sand
in the world. All around—nothing but
sand, in long rolling dunes.
At the edge of the Desert she was met by
El Heirie, called Harry the Camel, who is
known as the fastest Ship of the Desert.
Harry said he had come to take Mary Jane
across, and that if she would give him some
rare delicacy from the Enchanted Forest he
could travel even faster than usual. Mary
Jane said she would try him first, then if
she liked her ride she would reward him.
Harry kneeled down so that Mary Jane
could climb up on his back, and she set out
on her swift journey. The air just whizzed
by and before she knew it they had reached
the great oasis in the middle of the Desert.
Mary Jane thought it must be about time
for lunch, so she slipped from Harry’s back
with her lunch basket and spread a little
napkin in the shade of one of the date palms
by the well.
Mary Jane wanted to give Harry some-
thing quite special, she had enjoyed her
ride so much, so she said “You shall have
some MARY JANE SYRUP, i‘ makes
everything taste better, even such good
things as pancakes, cornbread or ginger-
bread. If you could always have MARY
JANE SYRUP, Harry, you would be the
swiftest camel on the desert and none could
overtake you, for it would keep you well
and strong.”
Then with Mary Jane on his back, El
Hciric set out again, and never was a camel
seen to run so swiftly.
