Bickford Avenue
Every time wc take a glimpse at
Bickford Avenue at night, we an
more convinced that the huge elec
trie sign of the Oklahoma Gas and
Electric Company, contributes more
than anything else toward giving thin
the” oghfarc a metropolitan appear
ami. Other electric slgnH on that
avenue do their part, but tho O. G.
and E. sign gives the renl punch to
the avenue.
Whether or not an electric sign
will have any effect on the jingling
uf the cash register bell, wo do not
care to argue, but we will say thai
when It comes to "pepping up” the
business district of a town, the elec
trie sign certainly “rings the bell."
Especially Is this true when we are
minus a "white way.”
Inasmuch as the ornamental light

Shoot the Wel!
Well we are going to blow off the '
lid of the Canadian County oil pool ‘
with a gigantic celebration on Frl- j
day, November 4, and It Is a splen
did Idea in more respects than one.
To paraphrase an ancient saying.
It is better you know to celebrate in
vain than never to have celebrated
at all. That’s the way with the Ram-
sey oil test south ot the city, we are
going to celebrate the "spudding in”
of tlje well, and If fortune smiles on
ur, we may be able to pull off a
more extensive colebratlou lalor. At
any rate we will h.»ve the celebra-
tion, win or lose, and the El Reno
Chamber of Commerce, which is
sponsoring the idea. Invites the gen
cral public 10 be at the well location
on the day named and enjoy the fes-
tivities.
It Is right and proper that the cele-
bration should be given to honor tho
Ramsey brothers. They have spent
l
An honest cigarette honestly
and are spending n large sum of
money In Canadian County. Appar-
ently they have faith In the oil pros-
pects of the community, and tho least
the rest of us can do Is to show our
appreciaion of their efforts and let
them know that they have the moral
support of Canadian County citizens
That's one way of looking at this
celebration.
There Is another ungle. The pro-
posed celebration will be given gen-
erous publicity among the oil frater-
nity in general, and thereby atten-
tion will be attracted to Canadian
County ns n possible Held for In-
vestment and development.
