McDonald who was also connected
with the federation came In. Or-
chard introduced her lo Haywood and
then went nwny with him. Witness
related her conversation with Or-
chard when tho latter told her that
poerty had soimrated him from one
woman he loved ami that Steunen-
berg wns responsible for his being
poor and ho would get even with him
if It was tho last act of his life.

berg." asked Darrow.
"No. sir I'm sure he didn't swear
like that I. think ho said devil of

Mrs. Day said ono day when Orchard
was telling her about his gambling
