Vinita Okla. Tuesday Nov. 10
Until the sdniol board provide some
-sort of fire escajie at the public school
30 that parents will not have to walk the
floor in anguish five days out of the week
there will be no mre bond issues fur any
purpose.
CAUSED BY LACK OF THOUGHT.
The people who walk down town over
the new sidewalks these mornings should
Mess the city council. These paved
streets and cement sidewalks have come
through great tribulation but they are
here and we are to have more of them.
Cruelty Mot Frequently Inflicted in
Carelesnes.
Must of the cruelty of the world Is
thoughtless cruelty. Very few people
would Intentionally add to another's
load or make his burden In life
heavier or his path rougher. Most
of the great heart-wounds are Inflicted
in a moment of anger when perhaps
we were too proud to apologize or to
try to heal the grievous wounds we had
made. Can anything be more cruel
than to diuccurage a soul who is
struggling to do the best he en to
throw stumbling blocks In the path
of those who are trying to get on In
the world against great odds? No life
Is Just the same after you have once
touched It. Will you leave a ray of
hope or one of despair a flash of
light or a somber cloud across some
dark life each day? Will you by
thoughtless cruelty deepen the shadow
which hans over the life or will you
by kindness dispel It altogether? No
matter how you feel or what la diS'
turbing your peace of mind never al
low yourself to Bend out a discourage
In a cruel or an unkind word or
thought. Success Magazine.

The time has arrived for
DOG SPECTACLES THE LATEST.
Now comes the "Sons of Washington'
n organization for the promotion of the
saloon business in Oklahoma and asks for
resubmission to the people of the whole
question of prohibition.' The enabling
act would not admit of such jtfocedure
but the suloon element will never win in
Oklahoma.
When the legislature meets in January
it will find the way cleur for a law to
take the place of the Dillups bill. If those
who have been trying to make the people
believe they really want prohibition mean
to make good they may now get busy. A
booze law in keeping with the constitu
tion and the enabling act can now be
jwssed.
English Aristocrat May Have Started
a New Fad.
A dog In spectacles Is the latest
fad. It baa not reached New York
yet but Lady Aylesford has been seen
In Piccadilly with one of ber famous
breed of cbowa la tow wearing a pair
of gold-rlmmed spectacles. Her friends
smiled and she explained that the
poor doggie's eyesight had become
so defective that she bad taken him to
an oculist who fitted him with glasses.
Dogs In New York have been taken
to dentists and tbeir teeth have been
filled with gold; they have bad their
nails manicured by experts the hair
of poodles spaniels and Scotch ter
riers have been dressed and curled by
"tonsorlal artists;" some delicate
dogs such as Italian greyhounds have
been dressed in sealskin coats; other
pampered pets have worn gold brace
lets and diariiond collars but spec-
tacles seem new.
The next step will probably ba for
some one to fit a Rrltlsh bulldog with
a solitaire eyeglass and a cigarette.
Virginia has just unveiled a monument
:to John Smith. This tardy recognition of
the founder of the American Smith fam
ily in no wise adds to the ripe fame of the
great pioneer who was brave enough to
face every known danger save that which
lurked in t)e demure eyes of Priscillu Mul-
lins. Captain John was neither the first
nor the Inst of bis sex to quail before a
woman's smile. Commoner.
The Battle nf the Sexes.
Women can claim another victory
In London. In the splendid new
kitchen which the famous St. Har-
tbolomew's hospital now boasts tho
male cooks and boys have been super-
seded by a qtiallMe'I !:'.:1 cook In

The probabilities are that the people of I
Vinita will have the proomiioti put up
to them shortly as to whether they vote
$35000 worth of bonds to purchase the
Auditorium or not. Few cities in Okla-
homa or elsewhere have the opportunity
offered to purchase at cost a ready made
park nnd public building in the heart of
the city. A careful discussion of this
mutter should engage the attention of the
people of Vinita at this time.

Hanford's Well Drilled Company
The manner in which Mr. Charles B.
Hanford drills his company at rehearsals
is resiwnsililefor the finished performances
given by organizations of which he is the
star. His thorough knowledge of Shake-
speare his years of exx?rience at the
head of his own company and association
with such stars as Edwin Booth and
Thomas Keene have fitted him to help
tithers understand and apireciate the
strong points in Shakespearean plays.
He is conceded to be the best exponent
of the great poet's works in America to-
day and when an announcement of Jus
coming is published public interest is at
once aroused. Mr. Hanford and a splendid
company including the accomplished
leading lady Miss Marie Drofnah will
present "The Taming of the Shrew" at

TUNGSTEN LAMPS
The last and greatest improvement in incandescent lighting. Exceed-
ingly brilliant but used with the Holophane shade is soft and mellow and
satisfies the most fastidious. Tungsten lamp filaments are fragile and
must be used in a vertical position but the average life is 1000
hours. The price only seems high. Compare the figures.
