HASKELL OOESO'T KNOW WHEN
HE WILL APPROVE CAPITOL BILL
Oklahoma City Okla. Dec. 19. The
state penitentiary probe ordered by
concurrent resolution of the legisla-
ture passed Friday will begin in Mc-
Alester at 10 a. m. Tuesday Decem-
ber 27. The committee organized Sat-
urday electing Senator Roddie of Ada
chairman and Mr. Edwards member
from Haskell county secretary.
Dr. Love the former prison physi-
cian who makes the charges against
management of the institution will
be notified by the secretary to pro-
duce his charges in writing also his
witnesses on that day. Processes will
be served at the expense of the state
in the event any of the witnesses fall
to appear voluntarily.
The committee is so" empowered and
may punish for contempt. What the
charges are or whom they relate is
not known here other than by rumor.
The situation will not it is believed
furnish anything of a sensation.
Governor Haskell stated that he did
not know when he would approve the
houss bill locating the seat of govern-
ment in Oklahoma City and on the
Culbertson site as presented by the
senate lie. has until the end of De-
cember under the constitution to act.

'.According to his statement made in
writing to the house democratic cau
cus. he Kays he 'will require a coni'
plete fulfillment of tlie agreement
presented by promoters of the site. In
addition the town will be required to
furnish quarters for the state govern-
ment free of cost between the date
of removal and completion of the
buildings also expenses of the removal
will have to be met by others than the
state and fees of the architects etc..

Appointment of the state capital
commissioners is not to be announced
until the bill is signed but it Is un
derstood the old commission will be
named. They are Tate Brady of Tulsa
who was chairman; Boone Williams
t Lehigh and Dr. Leo Bennett of Mus-
kogee. Salaries of the commissioners under
the amended bill are $2500 per an-
num where at the initiated bill of
June 11 placed it at $4000. It is not
believed the commissioners will serve
for that salary.

offer a bill abolishing the capital com-
mission and delivering the work of
