Tkiuutoriai. papers are catching
onto the Capital's duplicity ami aro
ending iu rapid body blows. Thoy all

Tuk evening paper appears to be
much worried about the text book bill.
It says the bill will cost tho territory
83000 but falls to state that the ter-
ritory Is saved 8175000 by the defeat
of the Willis bill. In this case the
Capital lies simply from force of habit.

The following comparative state
tnent ot the appropriations of the two
log's) atures the Third and the Fourth
shows that the wild charge of extrav-
agance made by the Republican press
gainst the Fourth legislature Is a vile
calumny and that while providing
liberally for some objects not recog-
nized at all by the Third legislature
the aggrepate amount ot the two ap-
propriations shows a balance of 820578
In favor of the Fourth legislature.
The superintendent ot Instruction
had appropriated to his office by the
Third legislature for tho two years
180S and J896 salary 82400; incidental
expenses 83000; clerk hire 81800 and
8200 traveling expenses making a sum
total of 83880.
For
the auditor's office they gav
1.C0O salary SJ.400 clerk hire $1600

a total for both offices of 811 SC9 .vQ

The grand bum total appropriated
by the Third legislature wasjsno 894
as against 8150322 appropriated by the
Fourth. This leaves a handsome bal-
ance of 820572 In favor of the free
silver and reform legislature.
It has been said that figures cannot
lie but when tho mendacious Repub-
lican press charges the Fourth legis
lature with appropriating 8100000
more than the Third thoy demonstrate
that some very able-bodied liars have
taken to figuring. These facts and
figures can be verified by an investi-
gating mind by a ton minutes' call at

In offering an apology to tho Okla-
homa supreme court last evening for
its wanton and malicious attack on
that body tho Capital said:
THAT I.ONU LOOKKU-KOIl Al'OI.OllV
The long looked for apology from
the State Capital to the Oklahoma
supreme court Is still bolug.lookol for.
Tho malicious lying ot tho Capital
caused tho territorial Republican con-
vention to pass resoltions denouncing
the court for an alleged "partisan de-
cision In tho case of the dUtriot clerks"
anu every uouesl la.rmimieu man ex
pects an apology to the court sine
very statement uttered by the Capi-
tal Impugning the integrity and im-
partiality of the court has been proven
to bo maliciously and damnably false.
In the clerks' case the United States
supreme court sustained the decision
of tha Oklahoma tribunal iu reasoning
and facts. Last year the Capital as-
serted and reiterated "that tho United
States supreme court would make
monkeys of the Oklahoma judges for
their partisan work " Since tho de-
cision of the upper court tho Capital
has closed up llko a clam ileaten its
editor placards himself as a political
and moral coward. Will ha apologize?
