Legal proceedings recently taken to
jeoover from a well kuown citizen who
belongs to the "fashionable" class the
jmount of a tailor's bill revealed the
fact that the man was poor had uo
money 'and ao means ' support and
owed many bills. Besides tailors shoe-
makers anil hatters he owed mouey to
florists Jewelers livery stable keepers
dealers In theater tickets sbii (makers
stationers aul restaurateurs. One of
the largest bills against the niau was
contracted in the course of several
years at a prominent up town restau-

the new account receives its first ad-

but never by any really large charge
and when at last the mau has a little
dinner party with a big appetite the
check Is liable to be 'O. K.M' because
the account is already so large that It
would be poor policy to turn it down.
"When the account has grown so
large that we think It should have at-
tention we give the hoad waiter a
tip and without teliiug the man in so
many words he is given to understand
that cash would be preferred to au

the bint and makes a payment or asks
for more time and tells us that he will
pay as he goes and he remains a cus-
tomer without increasiug-uis account
but generally he leaves us and goes
to some oilier place and complains
about poor service here aud in other
ways tries to Injure our business be-
cause he can't have what he wants to

remains open and when it becomes
outlawed we put it ou the list which
bears many good names but we never
dun the tuan.''
To show how anxious some people
are to have it kuown that they are
well acquainted lu the fashionable
restaurants the following story was
told:
"Some months ago a mau came here
early lu the day and said that he would
have a little party of friends to supper
with biin after the theater that even-
ing and ordered what he wanted. Jlis
order showed that he was unaccustom-
ed to the part but it is our business to
nil orders and we said that bis supper
would be served all right. Then be
down a sum of money more than
enough to pay the bill aud said 'This
will save mc the trouble this evening
and went away. The supper passed
off nicely the man's friends from the
country or the country part of the city
seemed to enjoy their spree and Anally
the host asked for his check looked at
It and then said grandly aud loud
enough for all to hear 'Charge it The
upper was a 'grand' affair In the eyes
of the guests but the climax the order
to 'charge it' overwhelmed them aud
I dare say the man accomplished his
object which was evideutly to make
himself solid with his guests." New

The doctors are wholly unable to get rid of
this vile poison and only attempt to heal up the outward appearance of the
disease the sores and eruptions. This they do by driving the poison into the
system and endeavor to keep it shut in with their constant doses of potash
and mercury. The mouth and throat and other delicate part then break out
into sores and the fight is continued indefinitely the drugs doing the system
more damage than the disease itself.
Mr. II. L. Myers 100 Mulberry St. Newark tf. J. says: "I had spent a
uuuureu aouars witn tne doctors wnen 1 reaiixea that
they could do me no good. I had large spots all over my
bedy and these soon broke out into running sores snd 1
endured all the suffering which this vile disease pro-
duces. I decided to try S. 8. S. as a last resort and was
soon greatly improved.. 1 followed closely your 'Direc-
tions for Self-Treatment' and the large splotches on my
chest began to grow paler and smaller and before long
disappeared entirely. I was soon cured perfectly and my
skin has been as clear as glass ever since. I cured my-
self at home after the doctors had failed completely."
