A negro tramp shut a policeman at
•loplin. Mo., Tuesday and the next,
day a mnhcaptured him and banged
him toa telephone pole, aftera furious
stuggle with the officers. The mob
afterwards raided the negro section
and drove all the colored people from
tlie tow n. burn ing many nf their homes

Mrs. liice suffered for some time
from that dread decease cancer. She
had hem in Guthrie, at the home of

month being treated for this decease
and had suffered terribly, the treat-
ment being vei v severe.
<»n April ti it was seen there was no
hope and all the cliildten were noti-
fied all of them, except one son vv ho is
in Mexico arrived at her bedside in
t ime to tell her good by and to receive
her blessing. Iler last hours were full
of pain but she bore all with patience

into the sleep of death at U:aii Satur-

Tho funeral services were held at
the linine ot Mr. Calvert, liev. Mans-

The interment was made in summit
