Tiik following article is very sug-
gestive: The idea that a small town
must necessurially depend . upon a
very limited nuiouul of trade is alto*
get her erroneous. Just as soon as
any lown gets a leput at ion asamoi ev
saver for purchasers;- just so soon as
the former becomes •con vi need that he
can get as m icli or a little mnre mon-
ey, that town will, no mailer how
small, draw trade. There s nothing
so sure to bring a customer to your
store a second lime as to give him a
bargain the lirst time, two business
transactions with a moderate profit
make more money th in one deal with
a large gain And if merchants will
advertise persislautly and judiciously
the people will come their way in
search of bargains.

Tiib following article appeared in
one of our territorial papers and re-
ferred especially to its own town, but
as we think Ihe subject treated of
might well apply to our town, we rc-
|o inl the art Icle substituting the name :
of our town in Ihe place of the other:
One very impmtont feature iu pro-
gress and development of any town is
its sidewalks, and this is one of the,
urgent needs of Mulhall at the pieg-
ent lime. The reason why we have so |
few walks in the resilient portion of
he town is because no etlort has been
made to get litem. There are few
property owners In Mulhall who are
not willing to build walks In front of,
their residences aud the city can well
a fiord to aid public improvements
along in this direction by putting in
t he crossings. Home one must take the
lead. If the property owners will pe j
tilion the city council for walks they,
will oo- doubt be granted. Walks
will soon be greatlv needed, not ouly ,
for convenience and comfort,- bill to <
give a better anpearance to our streets, i
